Gamertag name changing is such a rip-off!!!

Not sure if this will even go anywhere, I am expecting a lot of negative replies. But anyway, Is anyone else thinking Microsoft should give a little something back for the extortionate price of changing your gamertag name? If not just simply lower the price
a good bit (£3.00 or £3.50/$5 is reasonable enough albeit still steep). if they are simply just too tightfisted to lower it then surely they could at least allow a 24 hour period where (If you should change your mind) you can change it just once more, just
like the 30 day one for a new account only its 1 day. Just so there's no crossed wires, I haven't made this post just to rant, but rather in a vain and more than likely totally pointless hope that this idea will spread and get noticed by the right people and
something will get done about what I think is just daylight robbery, plain and simple.

    :)

The way I see it is it just adds more personal value and requires more thought to go into your gamer tag. I do think they should offer a free change to everyone once but that will never happen.

A free name change is offered to everyone. I for one am not going to be changing my name a bunch of times, and despise people that do it. You should think long and hard about the name you want when first choosing. I think of my GT as my first name. Its me
its who I am. I would feel out of place in parties if everyone was calling me something besides 24.

The first free change shouldn't count since you're given some stupid randomly generated gt. 24, you would never, ever dream of disagreeing with anything MS says or does, would you?

Ah back to the personal attacks again Bizarro? Yes I do disagree with plenty things they do. Like focusing on an old IP like Gears. Constant Halo titles, the price of Live, the games offered with Game with Gold and various other things. Yet you only attack
me when I praise MS. Maybe you need a life

Well, if you truly are a "starving artist", perhaps you shouldn't be spending your money on Xbox things and purchase some food?

Many services don't let you change your handle at all without starting a whole new account. I'm glad Xbox does allow you to change it when you want to. The price of $9.99 really isn't that steep, considering that people should really only ever want to
change their Gamertag once in a while. And I think the price tag really does ask that one put more thought into what one calls themselves. It also discourages people from changing it to something that flagrantly violates the Terms of Use so they can go troll
a game server, or personally harass others through mock Gamertags, and then simply switch back because doing so is so cheap. $20 to change your name to harass people and then switch back to your normal tag? Not as likely as if it only costs $5 round trip.

That is right but when i created my GT shorttime after the 360 release the was not an Option to change it once for free, oh and no random Gamertags also, got to choose my Name and never had another! But it dosen't bother me at all ill stick with it cause
    i like it!

I like the policy that's in place now. It's expensive so dipwad jr doesn't go spending $1 of his mom's money to change his gamertag now that everyone knows he's a jerk and refuses to play with him anymore.

It's not a 30 day timer anymore. My daughter's account had a random Gamertag for months before we finally decided on a name, and utilized her free Gamertag change. But that's exactly why they do the free change now, because Xbox issues the random Gamertag,
and they don't want to stick you with it. The original system employed a 30 day "buyer's remorse" clause that let people change their Gamertag once for free within those first 30 days.

Generally people who are new to Xbox don't know what kind of Gamertag to choose for themselves. Many put personally identifiable information into it. So Xbox granted 30 days for people to go online, see the kinds of Gamertags other players have, and to go
back and change theirs. The new system automatically generates the name, so people can potentially get right online and see other people's Gamertags first before deciding on a name of their own, and this new system grants them more time for it. The only
improvement I'd make on the system is to require a 5 day waiting period before a new account can customize the Gamertag, to increase the chance that they'll get online and see what other people are doing first.

Eggnogga, it's figurative, not literal, it's a musical thing, and the name I originally wanted to change to was taken :s just cos I used the word starving doesn't mean I literally ain't eating, words can be used figuratively. as in I could have a hunger
for something other than food. I am getting all my basic needs (hot water, heating, soap, food etc.) thank you very much lol, also I'm well aware of the concept of "starving artist", so you do not need to enlighten me. On another note, I will check out your
band Gamertag name changing is such a rip-off!!! :)
