GAMERTAG NAME CHANGE, SAME EMAIL ADDRESS?

I AM A PREMIUM ACCOUNT USER FOR THE solitaire COLLECTION. on MY NEW LAPTOP I've TRIED TO SYNC THE TWO computers SO THAT I KEEP THE SAME USERNAME. It's not working. I'm given a new username and all my past awards are not seen. How do I sync the PC
and my new laptop so that I get my solitaire collection and username both PC and laptop?

This normally means that you did not sign in with the same email and password as your original account.

You can try and contact xbox support by going to support.xbox.com/contact-us and give them your original gamertag and as long as you can verify ownership of your account they should be able to give you the email associated with that gamertag.

Everything that is associated with your gamertag will stay with the gamertag when you change an email address. The same would apply if you decided to pay $10 to change the name of your tag.

Please sign in on your Xbox One S and go to the settings.

Under Account choose Sign in & Security and under "Show on Home" check the email address shown on there.

Did that email change?

Then on the Xbox One X check your account and the email address shown in the settings there. Are these both the same email?

Did you change your Gamertag name recently?

Its the same email address I have been using for nearly 10 years and suddenly when I log in the gamertag has changed. Have emails from xbox to that email address from years ago with links to my original gamertag

I think I've cut this down to the key points. Your son had a gamertag you call SB, using OldEmail. You changed the email address; gamertag SB now uses NewEmail, and OldEmail has no gamertag at all.

You changed the gamertag to (we'll say) SB99, so you have gamertag SB99 on NewEmail. At this point, the original gamertag, SB, no longer exists (and could be changed to by any account on Xbox Live if they happen to think up that name).

If you now sign in to Xbox Live with OldEmail, it will generate a new gamertag with the random name as you said, and no gaming history. The old gamertag SB became SB99 (with all the history); SB stopped existing then.
