Is there a way to know my Microsoft username if I only know my recent Gamertag?

Hi Lostinfantry,

Unfortunately at this time your Xbox Live Account has to reside on a parent "Microsoft Account". Due to this you cannot simply delete or unassociate one.

The recommend method of doing what you want is as follows (I know it's a bit of a pain - apologies!

Currently you have:

Microsoft Account A <-->
Gamertag A

Microsoft Account B <-->
Gamertag B

You want to move Gamertag B to
Microsoft Account A

To do this, you'll need a third Microsoft Account. This is only temporary, and can be deleted after this process is done!

We then have:

Microsoft Account A <-->
Gamertag A

Microsoft Account B <-->
Gamertag B

Microsoft Account C

First Up, move Gamertag A to
Microsoft Account C. This leaves us with:

Microsoft Account A

Microsoft Account B <-->
Gamertag B

Microsoft Account C <-->
Gamertag A

Secondly, we then move Gamertag B to
Microsoft Account A. This should bring you to:

Microsoft Account A <-->
Gamertag B

Microsoft Account B

Microsoft Account C <-->
Gamertag A

This should get you to where you want to be.

If I'm misunderstanding your query, or this is not clear enough, please let me know - it's not the most straightforward process!

 

This would be the email address you have associated with the Gamertag. There's not really a way to look it up if you don't know it, though you could try speaking with Phone Support and they may be able to help out.
