Gamertag is taken. Please try another. But cant find it anywhere

Ive tried it for multiple tags and cant find the users anywhere zune, xbox etc.

And support is useless and literally stated they use the xbox website to check, which if I wanted to do that Id ask a friend.

Anyone else had this issue?

Gamertag change

Hi I wanted to change my Gamertag to "Rodney Farva" but it says "Rodney Farva is taken. Please try another."

When I go to look that person up it says "We could not find that person. Check the gamertag and try searching again."

Is the gamertag taken? Or would I be able to have it?

Gamertag should be free but isn't

Hello, I want to change my Gamertag because I'm very unhappy with the choice I made about 8 Years ago.

When I try to change my Gamertag to my desired name it says "X is taken. Please try another." but I can't find a user with this Gamertag.

Xbox Gamertag Availability Checker - Gamertag.net and CheckGamertag.com | Check the Availability of an Xbox Live Gamertag! also say it should be free.

Any reasons why I can't take it?

If the system says it's taken its is taken you just have to be more creative

Because they aren't going to.do YOUR Job and find a name for.you

Remember any name has to be unique and when searching for.a friend you must use exact case.But when trying to change your name ”gamertag " is the same as Gamer tag or gamer tag

Noone will sit and try the millioms of different combinations for you you are just going to have to try a different name or spelling

My Microsoft account now has a gamertag of xyz when it use to be "andy". If I try and change to andy I get the message "andy is taken. Please try another."

Hi,

IF the system tells you the gamertag is taken it means some one had used it before and the account is not active anymore therefore you cannot find it anywhere. MS won't release unused gamertags back to the public unfortunately so only thing I can suggest
is try to play with the gamertag you wish to use by changing a letter(s) to number(s) or something like that.
