    Gamertag is Not taken but can be used


    I've had my gamertag for almost 4 years, and as time progress I wanted to change it to "Biggy" but when I try to change it it says its taken but the account aka the gamertag no one has it, if that makes sense.

    wondering if you can help there is a gamertag i would like on xbox but it taken by i nno used account a friend told me that his friend knows some1 who works for microsoft and that if a account is not used for a sertan amount of time the gamertag can be used
    is this true plz reply as really want the gamertag the gamertag am would like is Uknighted

    Unavailable Gamertags Not Being Used?

    Some gamertags are taken, but not used. I want the gamertag Scrumptious, but it is taken. The person has never played on it (It has 0 Gamerscore and is a silver and has never been online). I think Microsoft should do something about Gamertags like this
    that are taken, but never used, so that people who will actually use it can have it.

    Gamertag is Not taken but can be used

    If the system says it's taken, then it's somewhere on Microsoft's servers and cannot be used. The tag system is in use on other Microsoft services, so even if it's not in use on an Xbox, it may be in use elsewhere. The system also doesn't see things like
    spaces as making a gamertag unique. So while you may look up "gamertag" and not find anything, it may actually be in use as "gamer tag".

    The gamertag 'Biggy' that you want is already in use as the gamertag 'B I G G Y' with spaces after each letter. That is why it says it is in use already.

    The gamertag 'Biggy' that you want is already in use as the gamertag 'B I G G Y' with spaces after each letter. That is why it says it is in use already.

    I'm having the same problem, I'd like to change my gamertag to "Sanojj" The account has been innactive since 2008 on xbox. And besides xbox i can't seem to find any other services that specific GT is being used.
