If you are seeing a different gamertag when you are on the website, you might be signed in to a different account automatically on that website. Try to check by signing out from that account and signing back in.

Or you can try opening a different browser or incognito so you can log in again.

You can try logging in here on another browser or in-private browsing:

Here, you will be able to check the gamertag that is linked to your Microsoft account.

Or you can immediately change the website while on the change gamertag link to this link so you can check the email to your main gamertag:

You can't change the gamertag in the app directly. You can change it at https://social.xbox.com/changegamertag

If you want to change your gamertag to that name, you should be able to with the new gamertag system, but it will have a number on the end which is similar to discord, the new gamertag can be changed here
