    You cannot request for a gamertag to be freed up so you can claim it.

    He wasn't asking to buy an account he was asking if the gamertag name Elu could be freed up. Gamertag names can be reset but it won't happen OP as Microsoft won't do/ no longer does it. The reason why they no longer free up names is due to certain people
    taking multiple gamertag names for themselves and selling the accounts to make a profit. Sorry OP but it wont happen.

    Which causes 90% of XBL members to have all this xXxXx00000 stuff at either end of their name.

    People registering usernames or website domains that they think are unique is nothing new.

    It happens on every major platform such as Twitter, Hotmail and domain registers.

    Just seems a massive shame as they could be recycled in batches without Microsoft even announcing it?

    That way no one would know what name has been recycled and when.

    It would just be pot luck that someone trys the name and its available.

    Seems a far more sensible and fair option. But sadly, I'm not the CEO of Microsoft.

    They are not going to bother freeing up one gamertag for a person, but I'm fairly sure they will do a sweep of gamertags in the future as I believe they did so a couple years back.

    But it is becoming ridiculous and an eyesore.

    Much simpler to do a sweep of dis-used names and recycle them in batches.

    Now go ahead with your next sarcastic comment and Ill do my upmost to answer it.

    Yeah it's not going to happen. You just need to come up with a new name or keep the name you got. I had to do it when I wanted to pick some names. Instead I just chose the next best thing and I'm sticking with it. Gamertag help. :)

    Having a sort of similar issue. The gamertag I want is one I had YEARS ago, back when Halo 2 first came out. I moved and forgot all information associated with that account (pretty sure it was tied to some hotmail address I abandoned because hotmail became
    spam city) when I wanted to recreate a GT years later.

    That GT is untouched. No achievements, no gamerscore, nothing (it was prior to the release of the 360). I thought old GTs were going to be cleared out, but this one just stays stuck :/

    The free tag change only applies if you receive an auto generated GT within 30 days of account creation. It does not look like your GT was auto generated so the rule would not apply and you would have to pay the fee.

    Ohhhh. No one really mentions that. :/ On every other forum people talk about how you can change it for free once. They don't mention that its an auto generated thing. Thank you!
    There is a one-time free gamertag change but it's only available to users who went ahead and used the auto-generated gamertag they were given upon account creation, as bowski mentioned. We hope that helps :)

    There is no way to completely delete an account once it has been connected to the servers. You would have to have access to the account and change the gamertag to something else in order to free it up for use on a different account.

    At all times I believe the account and tags on the xbox live service remain the property of Microsoft, and are licensed by each of us.

    3. SCOPE OF LICENSE. The application is licensed, not sold. This agreement only gives you some rights to use the application. If Microsoft disables the ability to use the applications on your devices pursuant to your agreement with Microsoft, any associated
    license rights will terminate. Application provider reserves all other rights.

    So while you previously used the Tag, your use of it ceased when it was suspended from Xbox live services (granted you can still play it offline, but it can't use the xbox live services). Anyone could create an offline tag called Kai JC.

    I can appreciate the desire to resurrect the tag, but it was that name that didn't follow the CoC or ToS, so it is that name that the enforcement action was taken against - to allow the name to be resurrected in any form kind of defeats the object of the
    suspension.

    While I wish you luck in your endeavour. I can say with certainty ( as those above me have) that you won't be able to get hold of that name for use on xbox live again!
