    Gamertag has numbers while it is unique


    Just a few moments ago I changed my gamertag, before changing it I check if it was still unique..... it was.

    But after changing it I saw that I received numbers behind it. I became confused and looked again to make sure it was unique.

    After checking I still saw that it was unique, but I still gained number behind it for unknown reason.

    So I want to know what is going on? And if it can be changed

    Keep in mind as you look for the gamertag that the system doesn't see things like spaces as making a gamertag unique. So while you may have looked up "gamertag" and it didn't come up, it may actually be in use as "gamer tag".
    After reading it your comment I went and looked at it. And sure enough there was someone without a space using the name.

    So that would explain everything. Even tough I think the space should make a tag unique.

    Keep in mind as you look for the gamertag that the system doesn't see things like spaces as making a gamertag unique. So while you may have looked up "gamertag" and it didn't come up, it may actually be in use as "gamer tag".

    The only way to change the tag without numbers is to change your tag again, which would be paid for, and find another gamertag.

    So Just How Many People Been Scammed By This New Gamertag System?

    They only put numbers behind identical gamertags. That means someone already has the one you want (without numbers) You can choose the same gamertag but it will come with numbers unique to you.
