Gamertag forcefully changed.

My gamertag was recently forcefully changed without me being notified till I signed back on. And now instead of letting me change it to something else they want me to pay to do it. This is absolutely garbage. I had that gamertag ever since I've had xbox
live with me 360. I wasn't even given a true reason why it was banned. Not even it jus saying someone reported my gamertag nothing. I should have been at least notified about it. Then when I say I might as cancel my live I can't even be given a pro-rated portion
of my payment back. At least 5 years I've been on xbox and to be treated llike this blows my mind. That just goes to show that xbox doesn't even care about its gamers.

Several days ago my gamertag, [Mod Removed], that I've used for the past decade, got changed by Microsoft. I submitted a review because I was appalled at how it could break their guidelines and the decision was upheld. Growing up in a small
backwoods town in the deep South surrounded by both African Americans and stout old fashioned conservatives, I've never actually heard the term '[Mod Removed]' used as a slur and had to Google it. Nonetheless, it's a thing so I lose my name.
Fair enough.

But I'm quite upset by the randomly generated replacement name for the offensive one that took a decade to actually offend anyone enough to report it. Being large, soft-spoken, and having pet rabbits, I was bullied mercilessly in school and my new gamertag,
bigbunnyxxxxxx, is very reminiscent of things I was called. When I first saw it I actually thought one of my tormentors hacked my account and changed it to mock me. Since then players on live have made fun of it too.

I don't blame anyone for this, it's a random generator and cruel irony the name I thought was inoffensive got replaced by one that's actually personally offensive to me, I just resent the fact that I have to pay to have it changed to something that doesn't
remind me of my childhood torment Everytime I log on.

This is mostly just me venting but if any Microsoft reps see this and there's any way to waive the fee so I can change my name I would greatly appreciate the kindness.

this morning I received an email saying my gamertag was changed. ive had it for around 8 months with no issues at all. but all of a sudden its considered inappropriate. a long time with no issues and then its changed, really? and then I have to pay to change
it.? that's not right. honestly I might just change to ps4. everything has a cost and a 24 hour wait. so to me this is unfair. if I have to pay to change my name because of you guys, im quitting xbox.

 

Would you rather they ban your account?

That's what happens when you create a bad name

All you have to do is read the terms of use

You can inquire in enforcement.xbox.com for the reason but the decisions are final

FYI every other services ban the account as they don't rename or allow for rename

 

If you have a perm suspension of the account which is completely different you forfeit all memberships and dlc and there is no refunds for that either

At least with xbox you get a second chance and FYI too many forced name changes will only end in an perm ban

Other services would just ban the account for a bad name because you canf change the name on any other service

 

What was your gamertag before the change?

 

If his name violated the terms of use he cannot use or post It on forums as the same rules apply

 

sorry too many people abused the free change (they would change it to something just as bad or just add numbers to the bad tag etc). So now when you get a forced change you have 2 options A: keep the tag they gave you and move on or B: buy a new tag but
make sure it is rated E for everyone or it will get changed again. and NOTE too many forced name changes results in perm ban off of Live so choose wisely.
