gamertag force changed?

Mine was! suprise!

5 years after my account was created my gamertag (NiggolasZ) got flagged for being inappropriate. now microsoft so kindly changed it for me to something less (subjectively) "offensive". Now this name change they've so graciously provided me used up my free
gamertag change, so now to get one that I actually want I have to pay $9.99.

how about a pop-up notification on login that allows us the chance to change our name to something we would want?

by the by, I spoke with a supervisor from customer support. guess who is going to be taking advice from the customer here soon too? Xboxlive! so anyone who has played LoL or Dota will know that a consumer based ban system is going to make microsoft a boatload
of cash when the average user can submit a request to ban a player. Buy up that stock now boys!

Indeed Xbox live will take the 9.99 fee for a name change. May I ask what Lol and Dota have to do with your name being changed on XBLA?

Part of the punishment for being issued a forced name change is that you are given a random tag in place of the offending one.Wouldn't be much of a punishment if you got to choose the tag would it?

You used up your one time free name change when you created your account.

As for the last bit in your post,i have no idea what you are talking about.No one can request for a player to be banned,you can file a complaint which will be investigated but that's as far as it goes.

1) The policy to assign a randomly generated name after a FNC was put in place because a large amount of persons were creating gamertags that broke the CoC again after being issued an initial FNC.

2) You knowingly tweaked the words to get past automated filters and just because it took someone a while to finally flag your GT doesn't mean it was an acceptable GT to begin with.

3) Yes, any user can submit a complaint about any other user, but all that does is open an investigation. An XBLPET member (read: living person) reviews the case and issues a final decision. If you aren't doing anything wrong, you won't receive disciplinary
action. But buddy, you were WAY wrong, and you know it.

The Xbox Policy Enforcement Team only issues forced Gamertag changes to Gamertags that violate the ToU and Code of Conduct. When a Forced Gamertag Change is issued, your Gamertag is converted to a randomly generated tag. I'd recommend just gathering up
the $9.99 and paying for a change, since your Gamertag does not seem to be in violation of the rules, and I do not foresee a Forced Gamertag Change being issued for it.

Hi, forced gamertag changes are only imposed under certain circumstances. Having your personal info, name etc isn't recommended but also isn't against the terms of use or code of conduct.

If you were forced to change the gamertag, it would have been forced by the Product Enforcement Team. If the gamertag was reported as being offencive, and the PET decided that it was, then the gamertag is forced to change. Chances of getting the old gamertag
back is slim to none, as once a gamertag is used, it remains unavailable for something like 5 or 7 years. Plus, there is a good chance that, even if you were able to change it back, that the PET would simply force you to change it again. And beyond that, the
more you are forced to change your gamertag for ToU violations, the more chance you have of getting suspended. I would just chalk the old gamertag up as gone, and go from there.
