Gamertag Changing Issues

I made a second account for friends and family to use on my Xbox One. I went to change the gamertag and it appeared to have gone through. Later that night, I signed into the account and it still has the Microsoft generated gamertag (Adjective-Noun-Number).
Whenever I try to change it back to the same gamertag I had chosen before, it says it's reserved and I can't use it, despite the fact I had changed my name to it earlier that day. Whenever I try to find the account with the name I want, it says the user cannot
be found. I find it extremely unlikely that someone took the name, and then got banned within hours of me attempting to change my name. Any ideas on how I can fix this? Or, have I taken up a gamertag without even changing my name?

Hi Im looking for support in changing my gamertag. I've talked with support agents online and they have led me to post on here. The problem is that the gamertag I paid to change my name to doesnt exist as a profile, but when I go into the editor it shows
that It is taken. Agents have told me that it is possible that they are banned and no longer exist but still cause problems in the gamertag editor. He said that every now and then you delete and free up names like the problem i'm having.

Im looking for someone to free up the name that I paid to transfer to. Gold member should be superior to silver members especially if they are banned.

Changing Gamertag Issues

They will ask you questions about the system and then they can help you the best way they know possible. They can even help get your warranty extended if you pay an extra few bucks from what I remember. Remember say xbox 360.

It can sometimes take a while for the update to happen, so please wait at least 1 day from when you requested the change.

When you changed the gamertag on the other account of yours were you charged?

If you was and 1 day has passed I would suggest contacting Xbox Support via this link, do not choose to speak with an ambassador but choose to speak with a support agent instead

Im not sure exactly where to post this, so help or send me link of where to post.

I have a gamertag since 2006, and i now only use this for my xbox one, i can see all the xbox 360 games i played but they all have 0 for gamerscore and progress. I havent use my 360 in about 2 years then i got the xbox one when i was released, and have been
experencing this problem since. How do i get my gamerscore points added?

Well I didn't realize it until I signed in to post on the forum but it appears my name change has gone through. It was a new account so the first change was free and I wasn't charged. I got used to the instant name changes on the 360 so when it took a while
(6 hours after changing I started this post) it seemed off. Thanks for the help!

Hey there, F1R3ASSAS1N411! You are able to change your gamertag for free within the first 30 days. After that 30 days, you will need to pay to change it if you are not happy with it anymore. Previously, we offered free gamertag changes when you received
a forced name change as well, but that has since been discontinued. This definitely seems like something that would do terrific over on our

Except on psn you can't change your name

fyi you should feel privileged to even have the ability to have a name change Lord

10bucks is nothing maybe a change of priorities is in order ?

It's 10-25bucks on most gaming services

not to mention you don't get the weekly maintaince that occurs on psn

A forced name change won't solve your issue

Fyi read the terms of use

Forced name changes only occur when the name violated the terms of use

Also you get a random name issued during one after which you need to pay 10bucks to change it

maybe you should think about your priorities

Hey, Paiste! That shouldn't affect it at all. I've ran into another user that is having the same issue in game with Gears 2 and 3 with their friends.

Is it that the party option in these games is now grayed out for you? That is what another user is running into, and if you guys are both doing it, I'd like to work with you to see if we can fix it.

Hey, Paiste! You will not be able to play in parties in game with users on Xbox One consoles while you are playing 360 games. You will need to create an Xbox One party on the console to be in a party with those users. You should be able to create parties
in game for 360 games with other 360 users by pressing the Menu and View buttons on your controller while in the 360 game to bring up the 360 Guide. Party options should be on the first slide there.
