gamertag changes

i spoke to your support team and they sent me here. reference number for this case:

so my issue would be that my gamertag was reported and i log on to find out that i can not change this randomly generated tag your automated system gave me.

i would like to look into this matter as i think my old gamertag was not offensive in anyway and part of a revenge attack by other players to unsettle me.

as a solution i would like to see my old tag reinstated or given a chance for a free name change as i see this forced action will require me to pay you guys more money for something that was not my fault.

Even if you change your Gamertag, you purchases and saves are still locked to your account. I could change my gamertag right now and I still have everything. It stays with the email address you signed up with, not gamertag.

It cost 800 Microsoft Points to change a gamertag, $10. Change your gamertag of the one you like to something else, and then change the other one to the gamertag you like. $20 investment and your playing on the gamertag you want to play on, and you have the achievements to show off your progression of games.

As for changing it to something else, you'll need to pay the $9.99 required to change a gamertag. There are no more free changes.

Finally, be aware of the tag you change to as further enforcements could result in the tag being banned from live altogether.

 

so explain to me why it has taken about 2 years for this to happen plus the fact i have been an xbox customer for over 5 years to deserve this service. without just cause you have changed my gamertag and not given me suitable option or time to change it
for free.

 

It may have taken 2 years for someone to file a complaint and bring the tag to the attention of the enforcement team.

The forced gamertag change policy is per the code of conduct that you agreed to. As stated above, you will need to post in that forum to find out why it was changed, but they will only change a tag if they determine it violates the code of conduct, so they
would have cause to do so.

 

well be that true. its nice i got a more personal reply for one. am tryin to be nice about it. i just don't want this issue overlooked. be it my fault or not. i spoke to someone on support on the phone and she noted that i should of gotten a warning email
about the impending change, which i was not given. plus the service so far i have been given in light of this issue has been dull. i feel like i have been slapped in the face by a wet fish. i shall make a post on the other forum for a solid answer but your
all the same i am guessing.

 

Phone and chat support do not handle suspensions/bannings/name changes so they do not have correct information about how they are handled. The enforcement team do not issue warnings before they take action. Your warning is the code of conduct/terms of service
you agree to when you sign up.

 

the warning is the code of conduct that you read and agreed to before using Live. in the past they gave free tags if they violated the rules (you could not sign in until you changed the tag). Too many people abused that by creating tags just as bad or
worse so they removed the free one and gave forced renames with the option to get a better one for a fee. so blame those who abused the free change after a report.

now i do not see it as any of that. tell me if i am wrong but unless someone has a twisted mind. how is this offensive.
