Gamertag changed

I got a message that connecting to Xbox Live was not possible with my profile and that I shoul download it again. After doing so my Gamertag was changed.

I want my tag back!

Gamertag changed

FNC? I few years ago they made my friend change his account. He was able to freely choose a new name. Now you have to pay? I am wondering why they changed it?

Based on the name you have now, and the events you describe, it looks like a Forced Name Change (FNC) was applied to your account because the former violated the Code of Conduct (CoC).

You would know if that sounds plausible based on what your last Gamertag was.

It would have occurred because someone reported the name for being offensive and after review the Enforcement Team agreed. If you now wish to change it to something else, you would have to pay the relevant change fee (eg $10 in US), and keeping it in line
with the CoC this time would be advisable as otherwise this same scenario will happen again down the line.

To confirm this is what happened (that an FNC was applied) you should post here, the only forums monitored by the Enforcement Team:

My gamertag was Genocid IV and I use about 8 years ( on xbox for about 1 1/2 yrs) and never had problems with it.

Yes, changing the gamertag again should be possible, als changing back to your previous Gamertag is possible, as long as your original Gamertag isn't already taken by somebody else.

Keep in mind each change will require a payment.

I'm afraid there are no free gamertag changes, if a gamertag was deemed to break the CoC/ToU then you will given a generated one and if you want to change the gamertag into something chosen by yourself it will have the fee like any gamertag change.
