Gamertag Changed Due to Violation (Niggardliness)

My Gamertag "Niggardliness" received an infraction and I had my Gamertag automatically changed. The reason for the infraction that I was given was that I was in violation of the terms and services via Offensive language.

The Gamertag is in no way offensive nor does it break any of the rules.. Sexual, Racial, political, religious etc...

The word simply means to be "Stingy" I sent in a case review mentioning this and the reply I got back said "The Gamertag in question violates the agreed upon Code of Conduct for its use of racially profane slurs. The term itself derives from the N-word.

This simply isn't true. The word not only has different origins ( Old English Scandinavian) then the very offensive N-Word (French) but Niggardly predates the N-word by a couple hundred of years. These two words are in no way related to one another.

The word is also used by people such as Shakespeare, John Milton, and Geoffrey Chaucer.

Your gamertag might have been changed by the Enforcement team due to a violation in the name.

If need to know why go to enforcement,xbox.com and amke a post on their forums, and an enforcement member can then assist you with the issue.

 

Most people don’t use (or are even aware of) that dictionary word in everyday speech, so they’ll assume it’s a direct reference to the slur. It’s going to be considered a violation of the code of conduct in that regard, because it looks too similar, and
people will think you’re trying to pull some sneaky loopholes by using an archaic lookalike.
