    Gamertag Change


    Hi,

    My gamertag is currently "IAmTheStig0001." I would like to change my gamertag to either "TheTimtation" or "The Timtation." I have tried for a couple of years, but both are always shown as "unavailable." Out of curiosity, I friend requested "TheTimtation."
    When I looked at their file, it said they have 0 friends, 0 gamerscore, and are offline. A Microsoft employee on chat support told me that the person who created that file most likely created it and then deleted it right away. He says even though the account
    was deleted, it stays in the database. He also said that in some cases, people are able to get gamertags that have had similar fates. I believe that since the account is and most likely never has been in actual use, that I should be able to get the gamertag,
    like in the other cases mentioned by the tech support guy. Can you please help me in my endeavours? I sure hope so. I really like that gamertag. Thanks!

    Xbox one followers privacy/spam concerns. END IT

    Even if you change your Gamertag, you purchases and saves are still locked to your account. I could change my gamertag right now and I still have everything. It stays with the email address you signed up with, not gamertag.

    Need your opinion about a couple of gamer profiles

    It cost 800 Microsoft Points to change a gamertag, $10. Change your gamertag of the one you like to something else, and then change the other one to the gamertag you like. $20 investment and your playing on the gamertag you want to play on, and you have the achievements to show off your progression of games.

    I know that, but the guy said it was probably a deleted account because the gamertags stay in the system even after deletion.

    IAmTheStig0001, if the gamertag is still in the system, even if the account is deleted, it cannot be used. So sorry. Microsoft cannot make it available for you either.

    Gamertags are used on other services,not just xbox live so you can't know if the the gamertag is being used or not.

    As mentioned,you can't request a gamertag to be freed up,if it says it's being used then thats it,nothing you can do.

    Hi there,

    I'm afraid there are no free gamertag changes, if a gamertag was deemed to break the CoC/ToU then you will given a generated one and if you want to change the gamertag into something chosen by yourself it will have the fee like any gamertag change.
