    Hi,

    I recently got an email saying my gamertag violated terms and conditions (although ive had it for years) and was forcefully change to an automatically generated one (). Obviously I dont want a gamertag about glowing baby cows so ive gone into
    settings to choose a new one and it tells me I must pay $10. I understand if my old one was inappropriate, but I would like to opportunity to choose a new one instead of being given this one without consult and asked to pay to choose one myself. Please get
    back to me with a better option?

    Xbox one followers privacy/spam concerns. END IT

    Even if you change your Gamertag, you purchases and saves are still locked to your account. I could change my gamertag right now and I still have everything. It stays with the email address you signed up with, not gamertag.

    Need your opinion about a couple of gamer profiles

    It cost 800 Microsoft Points to change a gamertag, $10. Change your gamertag of the one you like to something else, and then change the other one to the gamertag you like. $20 investment and your playing on the gamertag you want to play on, and you have the achievements to show off your progression of games.

    There is no other option.

    If you are issued a forced name change you are given a random gamertag.If you want to change it to a personal one then you will have to pay,you will not get the option to change the tag for free.

    The enforcement team do not consult you before giving you a forced name change

    first of all, a representative of microsoft/xbox linked me this specific section of the forums to post in.

    secondly, he told me that i am able to request to get a change of tag for free in circumstances like this and that it happens and can be granted.

    what the hell?

    Support typically sends people to the forums with incorrect information. Unfortunately, they don't know exactly how the forums run. The only way to contact the enforcement team is via the forums (which is why they send people to the forums) however they
    will only respond in the suspensions/bannings forum in order to tell people why they have had action taken against them. There is no appeal process with them.

    The forced name change policy is per the code of conduct which you would have agreed to.

    Hi there,

    I'm afraid there are no free gamertag changes, if a gamertag was deemed to break the CoC/ToU then you will given a generated one and if you want to change the gamertag into something chosen by yourself it will have the fee like any gamertag change.
