Gamertag change STILL not taking effect

Sorry to hear that your Gamertag change still hasn't shown for you! Let's get you in contact with
Phone/Chat support to take a peek into this, they should be able to best help out with billing trouble such as this. Keep us in the loop with how it goes.

Sometimes the change does not take affect right away. Not sure why but it may just be servers needing to update and register your new information. Fortunately other people have gone through this same issue and after a few days or so their gamer tag has updated
successfully. Give it about 3 days to register the updates and also try a hard reset of you console by holding down the power button for 10 seconds. If the gamertag change hasn't updated after that time contact Xbox Support.

As long as no one else takes the tag before you take it back, you won't have the suffix. That's only added if someone else has the tag.

The content for a specific game would still be tied to the original account, not the gamertag. So changed the gamertag won't effect the ingame stuff.
