Gamertag Change (Special Request)

I am well aware of the regulations behind gamertags, and yes, I have checked all possible combinations of the tag and I know well that it's not a banned word by any stretch, nor does it relate to a famous singer, etc. Still, none of these conditions apply
to my specific case.

I understand that you're trying to be of assistance, but this isn't anything that I haven't already gone through and double-checked prior to making this post. I've been on the phone with support numerous times, and I'm just exercising all of my options.
It's truly not in use, and I can confirm this.

 

I apologize for the stern-sounding reply, but I'm slightly offended at your replies hinting that I may be uninformed about the topic of gamertags selection I assure you, what I didn't already know, I've done enough research and invested enough time to figure

Support sends people here for the same reason all the time. Most people who do post here don't realize the things ngocphi are posting.

But really, if the system says it's in use, then it is in use somewhere on Microsoft's servers and the only way you can have it is if the original owner changes the name or it is freed up by Microsoft at some point. There is no one that can get you the gamertag.

 

This is correct; however, the gamertag was in fact freed up, and still has not yet been claimed. This is ultimately why I've reached out for private discusson on the matter. It's not so much as me trying to "beat the system", I do have information that supports
the nature of my request; if that's not enough to solicit a private discussion, then that's perfectly fine, I'll understand. But I'd love a chance to at least explain the situation and see where it takes me.

As Smwutches and ngocphi mentioned, if the GT is claiming that it's in use then I am afraid there wouldn't be an option to change your Gamertag to it. All GTs that were planned to be released have all done so, if we announce another wave of this be sure
to keep an eye out on News.Xbox.com

 

Thankfully, this isn't the case. The gamertag was not claimed, but it was released during the wave of gamertags. The tag hasn't been scooped up and it definitely doesn't exist at the current moment.

It doesn't matter if the name you are searching for doesn't show or you think it's not a banned namr

Unless you state the specific name

No one can guess or show you what combination or if it's on the banned list

I bet we can find the combination

There is an infinite amount of combinations unless you are running a program to run an impossibly large amount of names which isn't possible

There is no way you can know if the name is taken or not

There is no public list of what names is released or nor can support tell you if the name is available

And FYI mister maka is xbox support

As he said if the system says it's not avaiable then it's not avaiable be more creative with the name it is that simple

 

FYI you can't find it because it can be anything from spaces to case differences

So ngOc Phi ng Oc Ph I won't show nor will either by it guess what because be cause is taken it won't let you take those names

As mentioned it is impossible to find every combination and if the system says no then that's it there is no its or buts and support already told your this

 

ngocphi, I'm not certain that you know what you're talking about. You've made double-posts repeatedly and used terminology that comes across as totally condescending, so I'll reply to some of your comments; I'll also address my rationale here, but if you're
not going to be constructive with your posts, I'd like to ask you to please take your comments elsewhere.

- Checking every possible variation of the name is not only finite, it's an extremely low number. A five-letter gamertag can only have 15 possible combinations of spacing. You cannot enter two-spaces in a row, and the first/last letter cannot have a preceding/proceeding
space. There are 15 combinations. I have checked them all.

- I don't plan on choosing a variation of my gamertag. Had I decided to do that, I wouldn't have come to the forums or spent the considerable amount of effort that I have trying to acquire it. To tell me to "just be more creative" is not constructive or
understanding of the situation.

- No variation of this gamertag is bannable or copyrighted. It's as clean as the word, "Flower". No combination of spacing makes it violate the ToS agreement, nor is it a copyright singer or product.

- I've checked for the gamertag on the Xbox One console, Xbox.com, the Xbox App on Windows 10, and the Smartglass App. I even tried to change it on my Lumia 1920 when you brought up the Windows Phone. No luck.

- The only remaining reason behind it not being available is that it stuck in limbo (in the midst of a refresh. I know the tag was released during the gamertag refresh because it and all of the other gamertags that I was looking into that were hit by this
wave would redirect to automatically generated gamertags. For example, if you attempted to access the gamertag profile for 'Flower' the page would display 'LazyEmu14456' (attempts to message this gamertag would redirect the auto-generate tag as well). This
meant the tag was in the midst of a refresh, and while it wasn't immediately available, all of the tags were to be released in a 24-hour period. The tag I currently own went through the same process, and was released during the refresh. There are at least
three other gamertags that I am aware of that went through this change as well, coincidentally during the refresh and these gamertags are not available either.

- For those who might be skeptical that I may have missed the gamertag overnight, I stayed up in an attempt to grab it. I was available during the entire period, and my mouse was mapped to click the button to check for the tag's availability. So, even if
I had stepped away for a moment for a bathroom break and someone grabbed the tag during that time, the page itself would have been updated upon my return.

- I'm also well aware that Maka was kind enough to drop a reply, but I insist that not all of the tags that cleaned out were released. I promise you that it doesn't exist, I wouldn't come to these forums to publicly discuss it if I hadn't exhausted other,
privately available options. I'm trying acquire this tag as a result of a special occasion, and since it's not available, I was hoping to discuss with the Staff team about it privately since it's a personal matter. Ultimately the replies made in this thread
are the exact reason why I didn't want to make my post publicly.

- "FYI" the creation of multiple back-to-back posts is considered spam and is actually against the Xbox.com Forums rules; not to mention that some of these posts could almost be taken as insulting and non-constructive. You can read up the guidelines
here. It's hard to keep my thread valid (or even open at this point) when you do this. Especially if you make snide comments insinuating that I didn't notice that the Support team were actually
kind enough to drop a reply. I hope you don't use this demeanor with all of your support forum replies, you'd be driving players with legitimate questions away. I'm not trying to witch-hunt or target you with insults, but I don't believe your knowledge on
this particular issue supersedes my own, so I ask that you don't approach your replies in this thread in such a way.

Ok I'm going to lock this up. Gamertags on the system can be unavailable for a number of reasons. It's been stated here a few times. A gamertag isn't free until you can redeem it, otherwise there is some reason preventing it.

The only steps to try would try redeeming it on the console, on website and the other places that let you change a gamertag and see if it works. Otherwise it was released but not made available. Additionally, without knowing the tag (and yes, I know why
you wouldn't want to say) we could go round and round and round assuming things and repeating ourselves.

It's unfortunate but you'll have to keep trying and hope that it becomes available and I know you know a lot about how it works so you can understand that available means more than just not being able to find it on the service.
