I was never able to receive my free gamertag change. It has always just given me the option to buy, even well before 30 days I made the account.

And yes they are the only ones that can issue the change so like others have said don't use shaddy sources for "freer" changes

If you read then source of the tutorial it disvows the tutorials

Block communications with anyone sending harassing messages & file a complaint via your console,you can even set comms to friends only.

If you want to change your tag then you will have to pay,you will not get a free name change.

 

Looks like you have a service request number for this. Although you do only have a limited time to change the account when it is first created you should continue dealing with phone support now.

 

I was told the only people who had the authority to change it were the forum moderators.

 

No one on the forums has the power to give a gamertag change.

Also, keep in mind that the free changes are only given if the system gave you a randomly generated tag. If you were allowed to choose your name when you created your account, you would not have been given a free change.

 

Nope noone has that power you have a custom name so you choose your name already
