Gamertag change/removal

Hi,

I have some random gamertag attached to my MS account.

Judging from achievement points someone has been playing mahjongg on my computer and got 25 points...

I want to remove this gamertag from my MS account, but apparently I can't.

I don't use this account for gaming, although sometimes I would like to.

Do I really have to be charged for changing some random name, that I even haven't chosen myself?

Can this profile be removed from my MS account at least, so I can create a clean one?

Gamertags to be Recycled 5/18/16!

So, does this mean they're waiving the cost of changing your tag, or do we still have to pay (for those who have already used the one free time)? Not so great if we have to hand over money for this.Click to expand...

Uhh... Why should we now be entitled to free gamertag changes?

It's still going to cost $10 to change your gamertag. What does making unused gamertags available have to do with removing the $10 fee?

Ran into an issue with backwards compatible games. (Please Help.)

Your old gamertag is in the xbox 360 cache you have to go to settings and remove the linked account before you can add the new one. This happened to me 2 when i changed the lame tag microsoft assigned me. Even if you put the correct information and passcodes ot wont download your new gamertag until you remove the old linked account

Thank you. I wasn't sure if it was possible. The only difference is the removal of a digit from the end, so it's no big deal, I just wanted to know if it was plausible. I appreciate the help.

Hey Der, I'm afraid that a Gamertag cannot be deleted entirely. You could change the login information that you're using now to be associated with your previous Gamertag (please let me know if you'd like more info on this process), but you will be unable
to associate your current Gamerscore, game saves, etc. with that previous GT.

You can easily change your Xbox Live gamertag. If your gamertag was created for you during your initial Xbox Live sign-up (meaning, you did not choose your gamertag), you can change the gamertag once for free. Additional Xbox Live gamertag changes cost extra

If your gamertag is forcibly changed you should get a free gamertag change. I didn't waste $10 to have my gamertag removed.
