Gamertag change question.

I understand the basics of the rules of a gamertag change. I have yet to find a source that tells me verbadem what the rules are. I want to change my gamertag, which is , to my old call sign in Afghanistan. I want to change it to "Echo_4_ Bravo".
I wanted to change it to "Echo4Bravo_WTF" but i can see how the 3 letters at the end could in someway infringe on the rules. I want to know why the generic "That one one won't work. Check the rules and try again" is displayed when i type in Echo_4_Bravo? Is
it a formatting issue? Is it offensive? More offensive than my current gamertag? Yes it has been perceived as racist by some users. Ill break the new gamertag i want down shotgun style for anyone wonder. Echo is now you say the letter E in the
NATO phonetic alphabet. Which in this case, was used over a radio to describe the person as "Enlisted" military over "officer". E is for enlisted so we got that covered. The underscore is a separation between the Echo and the number 4. The number
4 is just a number. In this case it is used to describe the rank of the enlisted person introduced by the E or "Echo". An "enlisted" grade 4 in the United States Marines is a corporal. That was my rank. The next underscore was a separation between the "4"
and the "Bravo". The "Bravo" is the first initial of the specified persons name. In this specific case is Bravo for B, as in my last name starts with a B for Burns, or after trying to make this gamertag, Bewildered. The whole thing together means Corporal
Burns in radio speak, much like Tango means hostile or target. So why did i write out this whole thing over a gamertag you may ask. Well ill tell you why. Two letters from the
NATO phonetic alphabet represent anything considered to be misconduct, ever. The only place i could think of that Echo_4_Bravo means something that would not comply with conduct is in a 6 year old's perverted inside joke. So someone please tell
me that it is a formatting issue. If it is then the rules when making a gamertag need to be more clear, concise and readily present. A user should not have to log onto the xbox website to find out what they can and cant use. There is plenty of space in the
"choose Gamertag" screen to put some basic rules and things to avoid. Also when you are going to tell someone that their gamertag "wont work" you need to tell them why. Telling me to check the rules, doesn't do didly squat for anyone. The only people that
should have to know why their gamertag wont work probably know that they are posting something inappropriate. Now please enlighten me to the specifics of what is wrong with Echo_4_Bravo. Yes its a rant and a question in one post. Will informing me of that
fact or telling me what i could have done make a difference? No. Will doing anything besides accepting my criticism and answering my question or giving me more insight on these rules make a difference to me or you? No. Now that we have that out of the way.

Gamertag change question.

Is it at all possible to change my gamertag from to ? Obviously it is considered the same gamertag and therefore it says 'gamertag already exist' if I try to change it. However, since I own the gamertag and all I want to do is
capitalize the B and W, is there any possible way I can do so?

It's a Glitch either just give it some time or try to Recover (Download) your Profile again.

 

Symbols aren't allowed so underscores won't work.

Also, FYI, Echo4Bravo is already in use. So even if you tried using it with just spaces, the tag is already in use.

 

You think you are the only jarhead that plays xbox. Try adding your company at the end of Echo4braveo.

Xbox would not let me use my SCA handle as tag because it was a real name. Alpha Romeo Mike Yankee Niner Eight Spoon at your service.

 

Thank you both for the helpful responses. Had i been able to find these in the rules i could have saved you both time in reading this long rant/post. It would be hoo of the xbox team to incorporate a more detailed gamertag. It has been a while since i thought
of attempting to change my tag so i suppose the changes regarding symbols was a new piece of info. Thank you again.
