Gamertag Change Issue

Since the gamertag release, I have a specific gamertag I've been following closely. The gamertag was somehow skipped with the update, and i brought it up to the support team (The day of the release). They then followed up and released the gamertag
from the inactive profile, and informed be that it could take up to 24 hours to refresh in the database. Since then the gamertag has been stuck in a limbo state (It's unobtainable). On my end it shows the gamertag is not linked to an account, but when i attempt
to take the gamertag it shows it as "Reserved". It has been like this every day since the day i contacted the support team. On their end, it shows it's linked to an unverified account, and that they suggested it could be a bug as it appears its still somehow
linked/reserved to the original inactive account they attempted to release it from. I've followed up with the support team 5 times now over a period of a month and they referred to me here to state the claim and attempt to contact a Xbox Employee about the
situation. Two representatives have sent in tickets on the matter as it appears to be a bug in the system. 3 of the 5 representatives stated that it appears to be in my favor, as it "definitely appears to be a bug or fault on Microsofts end." Really would
appreciate an employee to contact me!

Ah... that was the issue. I didn't realize spaces didn't matter. Ah well, I'll keep searching for something. Thanks.

Gamertag Change Issue

So I'm trying to change my Gamertag, but I'm running into an issue. The 'Tag I'm trying to change mine to does not exist yet, to my knowledge, as I've tried sending it Friend Requests (error message, probably on account it doesn't exist), searching various
Gamertag Checkers (curiously enough, most of them said it was available while only one said otherwise), and by doing some profile searches on Google (sorry Bing). So why can't I change my 'Tag? It's obviously available, it doesn't violate the ToS, so what's
the issue? Bring me your knowledge, internet people and Microsoft, in the words of the great Phillip J. Fry, "Shut up and take my money!"

Support can't free up gamertags so not sure why you were told that.

If it says the tag is unavailable then there's nothing you can do.Gamertags are used on other services,not just xbox live so it may be used somewhere else.

Hey there, F1R3ASSAS1N411! You are able to change your gamertag for free within the first 30 days. After that 30 days, you will need to pay to change it if you are not happy with it anymore. Previously, we offered free gamertag changes when you received
a forced name change as well, but that has since been discontinued. This definitely seems like something that would do terrific over on our
Feedback site, though! That's where we collect all the suggestions that users like yourself have.

Except on psn you can't change your name

fyi you should feel privileged to even have the ability to have a name change Lord

10bucks is nothing maybe a change of priorities is in order ?

It's 10-25bucks on most gaming services

not to mention you don't get the weekly maintaince that occurs on psn

A forced name change won't solve your issue

Fyi read the terms of use

Forced name changes only occur when the name violated the terms of use

Also you get a random name issued during one after which you need to pay 10bucks to change it

maybe you should think about your priorities

Hey, Paiste! That shouldn't affect it at all. I've ran into another user that is having the same issue in game with Gears 2 and 3 with their friends.

Is it that the party option in these games is now grayed out for you? That is what another user is running into, and if you guys are both doing it, I'd like to work with you to see if we can fix it.

Hey, Paiste! You will not be able to play in parties in game with users on Xbox One consoles while you are playing 360 games. You will need to create an Xbox One party on the console to be in a party with those users. You should be able to create parties
in game for 360 games with other 360 users by pressing the Menu and View buttons on your controller while in the 360 game to bring up the 360 Guide. Party options should be on the first slide there.
