Gamertag Change issue

Hi, I finished speaking with customer support a few minutes ago. Jean suggested I post here to get some more help with the issue. We are attempting to change my GT and it is not allowing the change. Jean was kind enough to look up the requested name and
he was unable to find any account with the name linked to it, inactive or otherwise. We decided to post here per his instruction to see if we could find some more answers. The requested new GT is "MisterMustang". Thank you in advance!

Gamertag Change Issue

So I'm trying to change my Gamertag, but I'm running into an issue. The 'Tag I'm trying to change mine to does not exist yet, to my knowledge, as I've tried sending it Friend Requests (error message, probably on account it doesn't exist), searching various
Gamertag Checkers (curiously enough, most of them said it was available while only one said otherwise), and by doing some profile searches on Google (sorry Bing). So why can't I change my 'Tag? It's obviously available, it doesn't violate the ToS, so what's
the issue? Bring me your knowledge, internet people and Microsoft, in the words of the great Phillip J. Fry, "Shut up and take my money!"

 

You can't chose that name, because it is already taken.

"MisterMustang" (without any spaces) is read the same on Xbox Live as "Mister Mustang" (with a space)
