Gamertag Change Extortion

I was just a subject of the Xbox Live Extortion, sorry 'Enforcement' Team. I created the Gamertag 'Lyncherz' last year. This was an option available to me via the Xbox Live Gamertag creation menu, in fact, I believe it was suggested to me because the one
I wanted, Lyncher, was taken.

Lynch is my last name. I didn't realize my last name was offensive, maybe I should legally have it changed, because Xbox Live has deemed it offensive. I've lived all these years without knowing this, apparently.

It is racist, or as determined as such by the Xbox Live Enforcement Team via their case review. That is subject for interpretation. Many Gamertags on Xbox Live can be interpreted as offensive on an individual level, does that mean we should all be reported
if someone doesn't like your name and takes personal offence to it? Why was I allowed to pick this as an option in the first place when creating my tag, if it's racist? Why, when I go to create a new Gamertag even now, am I being given options by the Xbox
Live's 'Available Alternatives' list, different suggestions for 'Lynch'? For example, "NextLynchStar" being an option? So, if I pick that one, am I going to be reported again by someone and then Xbox Live forcibly changes it saying it's racist? Being a Lynch
Star can be interpreted as a profane phrase, after all. That seems like an easy lawsuit for fraud, charging me $10 to play this game of yours.

Not impressed.

LovelyWhelp, It is not extortion. You should've known better before using an offensive gamertag. That is the punishment for getting in trouble.

Microsoft is following federal law for the COPPA law (you can go to coppa.org to learn more about it). Unless that 50 cents is paid there is nothing the forums can do or phone support can do about going around it. Everyone with a child under the age of 13
has to do it regardless if they have a silver or gold subscription.

 

Sorry, but no one here on the forums can address issues dealing with enforcement actions.

Thanks for the information. I figured this was the only way to be in contact with anyone from the Enforcement Team. Conveniently, there is no way to further defend your position, file for grievances against final case reviews or to file complaints against
Enforcement Team members for decisions made. Something needs to change here, since most cases are reviewed by a single person subjectively.
