Gamertag change due to security

I was directed here to consult on a gamertag change. I've had mine for many years and am quite used to it and don't want to see it go especially not to a random generated name. Thinking it was convenient to have a name to remember I am now hating the idea
of subscribing to gold since purchasing Destiny due to the fact my gamertag is holds my first initial of my given and middle name and entire last name. I was young when I did it and am now realizing the potential issue with not having created a strong enough
alias and risk security infringement.

I understand there is some sort of fee to do this however due to the nature of the concern with security of my gamertag I may have this waived. I don't know what's possible, and what my next step is, or who even responds to these.

I'm not sure why xbox chat support told me to come here for the inquiry. I hope I'm in the right spot and not just pouring out for no reason.

ok I'm putting this today due to an insodent of bullying over my gamertag and it makes me soo upset about all the abuse I'm getting and I request and gamertag change because I have isssues that make this harder to take so plz can I have agamertag change

You can change your Gamertag on yourself. Have a look into that article: How to Change Your Xbox Gamertag

A Gamertag change is priced at 9,99$ or the equivalent in your currency.

Enforcement only applies a forced gamertag change if its against the ToS / CoC.

Sorry, but there is no way to get a free name change. You will need to pay in order to change your tag. The enforcement team does issue forced gamertag changes if a gamertag violates the code of conduct, but even then you are given a randomly generated tag
and would have to pay to change it to something else. While having your name in your tag is not recommended, it does not violate the code of conduct.

All accounts should have 1 free name change, unless you have done it already.

Have you tried going to the name change page and seeing if there is a charge?

CapnPhoton - The free gamertag change is only available within the first 30 days of an account and only if you were given a randomly generated tag. Since the OP chose his tag and has had it for years, he would no longer have the free name change.

If you are still able to manage the security proofs or If you if you want to remove them all due to not being able to access them follow the steps here

Be aware that changing them or resetting them will take at least 30 days or longer.(this is due to security measures)

After changing them or removing them and when they are enabled/activated you should be able to access the account (and move it if necessary)

Do you know if there is a way to merge the accounts then? My old email address, that is also a gmail account, needed to be changed due to security problems. I changed my email and want to be able to keep my Gamertag but using the new email address. My goal is to get all accounts attached to the old email changed to the new one for security reasons. I really appreciate your willingness to answer my questions!
