    Gamertag and unwanted numbers

I changed my gamertag from RiinzL to RinzL, but now for some reason it has numbers in it that I didn't want.

I want to change it back but Microsoft is charging me.

This is truly disgusting as I wouldn't know it'd add numbers, if it was told, it was very hidden.

Can I appeal to get back to my original nickname ?

    :)

The suffix appears to everyone in game, friends and me too.

Also the website puts the suffix in grey and it's lightly visible, nowhere is it noted that the numbers will stay in the Nickname however it is what happened

If you’re assigned a suffix, the # symbol and suffix appear everywhere except in friends lists. You don’t see suffixes of friends in your friends list and they don’t see yours in their friends list. Your suffix is used in games so that everybody knows who’s who.

If you change your gamertag at https://social.xbox.com/changegamertag it will even how you if the chosen name has a suffix (if the origianal belongs to someone else) and will show you what it is.

If you do decide to change your existing gamertag, be aware that you may lose it to someone else.

Afraid not. The gamertag system was changed a while back to allow people to have the same gamertag but if the tag you pick is already in use then it will have a suffix & numbers after it.

If you want to change the tag you have now then you will need to pay, there is no way around this.

    HI Do'Rinzl

Microsoft only allows one change of a gamertag and does warn you of this at the time. Any subsequent changes are charged. This is to prevent some players constantly changing them, as this has an impact on the whole Xbox backend system.

With regards to the suffix, this is because your new gamertag is not unique and only appears to other gamers who are not on your friends list. Anyone on your friends list does not see it. These changes where made a while back and more details can be found here:
