Gamertag and downloaded games inaccessible

Okay so I had an xbox slim with hundreds of dollars of games purchased with my xbox gold account.

My son splashed water in my xbox and it broke so we got a new/used one.

I logged into the only Microsoft account I have. It asks me to create a new gamer tag and I do.

I can see all my previously bought games but they wont let me play.

I researched and made sure I had logged into the correct account. Past activity confirms it is- yet my old gamertag is gone and new one remains in place. Still cant play old games.

Phone support with xbox has been less than helpful.

I have my name. The email address and password as well as my microsoft name and password and yet they tell me I have to repurchase the content from my past devise and offer no expletive for why my gamertag is gone or had to be changed.

The games are tied to the account. So when you logged in and it asked you to create a new gamertag that's a sign that you didn't log in with the correct email address.

Xbox Support can lookup the gamertag and try to send out a verification code to the phone and email associated with the account but they can't see the phone or email associated with the account. You'll want to check or try and either try the steps in this

Or try the password reset using different email addresses you may have used for the sign in email address for the account.

This issue is caused by 2 gamertags on the same console have different unlockable content. This makes ALL downloadable content inaccessible by all users on that console for
Gears of War 3.

To solve this issue delete (or move to a different storage device) all of the Weapon and/or Character skins from the console that are not licensed to the gamertag having difficulty accessing the content. You do not need to delete or move save games.

That statement is actually false. When you rename your gamertag, the previous tag goes into a sort of limbo for an undetermined time, and actually becomes inaccessible.

Thank you. I resolved it by replacing the original account. The downside is that some of my games previously downloaded are now inaccessible, but that's the way it goes. Appreciate your suggestions!

Call Xbox Support. There are all kinds of problems with the digital version of this game right now. Everything from Day One DLC being inaccessible to the game being non playable because of download problems.
