Gamertag and account confusion

OK As you can see the forums are removing the email addresses for privacy purposes so we will stay with the Account A/Account B scenario.

That is correct in order to cancel the Security proof change you would need to regain access to an old security proof.

When you say you use Account B is it a Microsoft (MS) server email (outlook, Hotmail, MSN, live.com) email? In what way are you using it? Do you use it for any other MS purposes?

The reason that I am asking the questions above is that if you do not use it for other MS purposes and are wanting to move Email B to Account A it is possible. but remember all this is doing is changing the email that is used to sign into the account with.

ALL game progress and purchases are attached to the account that purchased them there is no way to transfer those to a different account.

My question is, what will happen to GT-A & GT-B once this process is completed. I believe 2 GT can't be associated with this *** Email address is removed for privacy *** account. I don't care about any subscriptions on this, but I don't want to
loose my games and gamerscore accumulated over so many years.

Once again all this did set in place that in 30 days the security proof (where MS sends account verification) is changed the actual email address that is used to sign into the account and everything is going to be the same.

You can have an already established MS account email as the security proof for another MS account.

OK let me explain what happened.

1. You had access to the email address and password for the old account but when you went to do anything serious on the account it wanted to verify ownership of the account by sending a code to what Microsoft calls security proofs either an email or phone
number.

2. If you do not have access to one of the current security proofs but have access to the email and password it will put a 30 day hold on the account before that security proof change takes affect.

Now a security proof email can be the email used on another Microsoft account as the sign in email this is just for security purposes.

So at this point the only thing that you did was update where Microsoft sends verifications to verify the account when you want to like change the password on the account, change the email address on the account, change any pertinent information on the account.

Now that we got what happened out of the way I want to understand exactly what you are trying to do we will go with your example

So you say Account/Profile A with GT A is the account that you are using with Xbox. Is this the account that has your Xbox purchases and everything on it?

You are wanting to move this email to Account B?

Do you actually use Account B?

All that you would be able to do IF the email for Account A is NOT a Microsoft server (outlook, Hotmail, live, MSN.com) email is change what email is used to sign into the account. ALL purchases are tied to the account that made them and are not able to
be transferred.

So what exactly are you trying to accomplish?

Hi there - you'll likely be fine as the automatically-generated GT usually allows you to change once for free anyway. That's why we're not all listed as something random like SparklingPickle354

I'm sure this all makes sense to you and pulling you hair out by now.

I added the emails as per below (hope it doesn't get censored now) It's not MS emails.

GT-A (main with all games/subscriptions. etc) is linked to yahoo (as shown on xbox also)

GT-B (empty GT MS automatically created) is linked to gmail (linked to my Windows)

Believe it's 2 different MS accounts.

Logged into MS with yahoo email and changed the yahoo email associated with GT-A to gmail email that's associated with GT-B.

30 days wait time message.

What's gonna happen to both GT? What will show once I login with the gmail on xbox as 2 GT will be associated with that now? (which as I understand can't be the case)

Let me see if I can explain it a little better.

There are multiple types of emails that can be associated with a Microsoft (MS) account.

1. Alias- This can be multiple different emails as long as they are not already a MS account used to sign into the account.

2. Security Proof- This is used to verify ownership of the account and to recover the account if for instance you forget the password to the account. This can be one of the aliases as long as it is not a MS server email (outlook, Hotmail, MSN, Live.com)
email because in order to check the email on one of these it would be the same password that you had forgotten.

3. Billing email- This is where they would send all the billing information mainly purchase receipts to this email can be an alias or it can be a different one.
