Gamerscore/achievements

Sorry I am new to xbox live. I purchased an xbox for my children and they have been playing it for a while. Can I transfer my son's Gamerscore/achievements to the new xbox live account or will he have to begin all over? should I have gone under his current gametag
and signed up for xbox live?

Do you ever wish you could choose to reset your GS for individual games to get achievements again?

You can't cheat if it resets your achievements and gamerscore for that game and reduces your overall gamerscore by the same amount.

Say you have 50k GS. You reset the achievements and GS for ME2 which you had 1150GS in. Now you have 0 GS and achievements in ME2 and your overall GS is 48,850.

Ideas to Make Achievements Important Again!

I have been recently thinking that Xbox achievements seem to be only good for increasing your "Gamerscore". Although a high gamerscore does in fact reflect your time spent gaming and can be seen as an accolade...but thats it. I am not bashing the idea of achievements and gamerscore but I would like for them to expand on the excitement of gaining achievements. I remember back in the day when Halo 3 was still relevant that in order to gain the "flaming helmet" you needed to achieve the Vid-Master Achievements. They were considerably hard achievements indeed,but, were people trying to obtain this accolade just for gamerscore, no, they wanted to rewarded for their efforts with in-game customization and items. That is the step i feel Microsoft and game developers need to make in order to make Achievements more about prestige and dare i say "bragging rights". Maybe it is my nostalgia kicking in but i miss the days where my friends and I would spend hours trying to "achievement hunt".
Ideas on making them relevant:

After every 5,000 Gamerscore you gain a new Gamerpic.

Mircosoft can add "titles" next to playercards when you inspect a gamertag. (etc., Achievement Hunter, or Head Hunter, or something to that effect)

Developers can add in-game items or collectibles if you unlock a certain achievement or a certain amount of achievements.

These are some of my ideas but I would love to hear all of your thoughts and ideas!

Hey there, so does your child have a silver account already or is the profile locally stored on the console and does not have a gamertag?

If you want to change a local account to an Xbox Live Gold or Silver account, sign into the local profile on the console and you should see 'upgrade to xbox live' on the dashboard where you see your most recent achievements.

Click on that and follow the steps, you will need to add an email, password and will have to change the gamertag to something that's available.

Now if your child already has a silver account and you want to transfer to achievements etc. to a new account, that is not possible and you will have to start over.

Hope that clears everything up.

its not that. it that they have removed the gamerscore from the games that have the achievements already. the achievements are still there but nor counted for gamerscore

Gamerscore is basically achievement points that you get by playing your games. You can sign up for Gold and go online with no Gamerscore. Gamerscore is a measure of your "achievements" through both offline and online play.

Couple days ago I did my first 1000 gamerscore achievement with Batman Telltale Series and now I be doing Batman The Enemy Within that be my second 1000 gamerscore achievement.

What a start of 2020 and for me.

Hopefully more 100% gamerscore achievement in the coming months.
