    Gamer tags with spaces


    So I played a match of R6S with a guy having the gamertag N U T M l L K. So then a few days later I wanted to change my gamertag to h y s t e r i a. It was the maximum texts you could put in a gamer tag so I tried and it said "that name isn't available".
    I searched the gamer tag and no one had it so what's up with that?

    Also type in the tag with no spaces or with spaces and it might come up in the search..

    Wanted a tag a few months ago, typed it in the way i wanted and it turns out it was spelled with no spaces. It won't get you the tag, but will give you some kinda closure that the tag isn't available.

    Support told me to come here, I just need a space in between my gamertag I made 3hrs ago...

    Sorry there is no way to add a space to a name as the system does not recognize tags with spaces or no spaces or caps no caps. and dave mcfly 85 are considered the same tag.

    The problem is that with gamertags is that hysteria is the same as h y s t e r I a so it is probably out there somewhere with another variation with or without spaces with gamertags spaces do not count they are the same thing.

    Why Cant I Take A Unused GT?

    On LIVE gamer tags may be taken since spacing doesn't count. So , which is my gamer tag, is essentially the same as Defone. It will show Defone being taken even if you can't find that gamer tag.

    If it is coming up with the same message that it is taken then that means in some way that gamer tag is in use like drifterx22 said.

    The system does not see capitalization and spaces so:

    MyXomoTag

    myxomotag

    My Xomo Tag

    and any other variation no matter where you put the spaces or the capitalization would be the same gamer tag and it would not be available.

    With that amount of letters there could be probably over a million different ways to try and put it in with different spaces and capitalization.

    Also if the enforcement team at any time has decided the gamer tag to be against the code of conduct then the gamer tag would be taken out of circulation and NEVER be able to be used again.
