Hi I've been trying to change my gamer tag, but every time i do You try to charge me. I haven't used my one free change and I was told to post here my live chat to get it done.

I'd like to change it from to ViceralBarbeque if possible.

A couple of questions...

When you originally set up your account, did you enter GazVickers as the tag you wanted?

Other question, how long ago did you creat the account?

If memory serves, there's a 30 window from when the account is created that a user can change it for free.

-either way, let us know the answer to the two questions for better service.

the account is around 2/3 months old now, and the was just assigned to me. I was hoping to get my old account back however this is not possible. I was advised to post hereby xbox support live chat, as they said this was the only way to get the
free change now, sadly I wasn't aware there was a 30 day limit, in fact its taken me this long to come up with a tag I like lol.

 

Being beyond the 30 day limit, you have no other choice but to pay the fee.

 

NO you see as I explained I was told by Xbox support to post here so that the MS mods could change it free of charge.

 

Phone support gave you the wrong information. This seems to happen quite a lot. What you were told is incorrect. Being beyond the time limit, there is no other option but to pay the fee.

 

because your name is personalized already you do not get a free namechange because you already used it

your account is old

the console does not give you the tag like that only you would

a system generated tag is two words and a number

yours is neither

also what they are talking about isn't what you want anyways

forced name changes are only for terms of use violations and will only give you a random name change with no option to get a free name change

you would still have to pay for it

 

also forced name changes would result in a mark against your record and too many terms of use violations will only lead to a perm suspension of your account

if anyone can issue you a free name change it would be customer support line not enforcement team

and they don't even have that power

 

I've never had a terms of use violation, and I think the tag may of come about earlier than I thought, when I set up a new email. I kind of remember ending up on the xbox website some how, however I'm not sure how long ago it was. I thought I'd set it up
through my email before my xbox one was delivered, as at the time I was trying to recover my old account and gamertag.

No matter, like I said that's what online customer support told me when I spoke to them.

There is no exceptions for after 30days if your name was pre random name system then there is no free name change nor will you get any

Your name would be a set by you or given based on your name or responces or close to what your attempt at a name

If you clicked select then you chose it

It is only for names generated after 2011

 

And the only ones with such powers is customer support except they do not have that power

And pet team only issues you a random name change not select your own only for tou violations you only have one option after 30days and that to pay for a personalized name
