    I just find it annoying how you have to pay to change your gamer tag please make it free because it’s a ridiculous and it’s a ridiculous price for something so small

    Gamertags provide a consistent identity and provide accountability

    In addition, gamertag changes are loads on the system, while it may seem minor, any time you make a change to a database it's a risk. This is why you can't remove 0 point games, and why gamertag changes can take a week to fully propogate.

    I do not think they are two gamer tags. One is a gamer tag and the other is your nickname. The gamer tag cannot be changed without paying a fee. Your nickname you can change anytime you want

    There is no way to delete a gamer tag. You can pay to have it changed, but deleting the Microsoft Account will not delete the associated gamer tag and will only make that gamer tag inaccessible since there will no longer be a supporting Microsoft account.
