Gamer tag Help

I want to get the gamer tag Wolf. When I go to change my gamer tag its says its taken. Then i go to search the gamer tag to add him and there is no one with the gamer tag. I would like to know what is happening and why this is happening. I have talked to
Xbox support and i keep get a different answer. One time when i was talking to a guy and he said I had dibs on the gamer tag and will email me when it available. I am just nervous that he will forget to email then someone else gets it. Also i am wondering
if Xbox will do another sweep of deleting inactive accounts.

If the system says a tag is taken, then it's in use somewhere on Microsoft's servers. The system doesn't see things like spaces as making a gamertag unique. So if you were to look up "gamertag" it may show as unavailable even if it's in use as "gamer tag".
That's the case with that gamertag. Unless the owner changes the tag to something else or he doesn't sign into it for 5 years, you won't be able to use it.

If you try and get the name then it's available not before not now

Gamertags as smwutches mentioned cannot be reserved so I donno why the agent told you what he told you

is the same as or

You will have to be more creative with your name

It could be wolf it could be woLf and it won't show unless you type the exact context to get the name to show up
