Gamer tag change

Hi, i have windows phone with xbox account on it. I am new to xbox, however my friend who is deceased since 04/08/2009 has been using my email address and his names comes up as gamertag each time i click on my phone. I spoke with Kristofer on chat who directed
me to yourselves. I dont have console and never had one, i only use my smart phone. i would me most obliged if you could force gamertag change to my name in the xbox account, as i am unable to do so without actual console as i was todl. i have chat ticket
as well SR#. [Mod removed] if this is required by yourselves. I would be upmost obliged if you could assist me with this change. Thank you Anna

i want to change my gt to TidalSnow but someone else has already got it and I don't want to replace one of the letters with numbers so if someone could suggest how I change it up a bit to use it that'd be great.

I've tried it with a space between as Tidal Snow but someone's got that too.

Unfortunately you will not be issued a Forced Name Change unless your name is deemed offensive.

 

As explained above it belonged to my deceased friend who used my email address on his console. I note its not offensive but certainly upsetting. How is this not giving grounds for such a change? Had I got console I would change it right away but I don't
si can not do it either online. I am looking for help please

 

it is not grounds because you aren't the account holder

it does not matter if you have a console or not the account was created on the phone and well past the 30day limit as it probably was created before the random name creation

This is very unhelpful no matter what circumstances. As I said I don't mind having to pay for such a change either but apparently without console its not possible? And I am sorry but the post about the account being created on mobile more than 30 days ago....
This account has been created by my dead friend who died years ago and had console at the time!! And the name is not random!!! Its his name!!! And as it happens its my email do I guess that makes me the account holder if not can you create a new one with my
email address and unlink this from the email??

 

You will not be able to gain access unless you remember the login information.

Otherwise, I'm sorry...there's nothing we can do and Xbox Support will not help either if you don't know the information.

 

I see that your account is fairly new with low gamerscore of 45. in this circumstance I know it's a hard fact, maybe a bit unfair, but I don't think microsoft will do anything about that, through i have to ask if using that account with that name is upsetting,
then wouldn't using that account in general be upsetting? Just make a new account, the accounts wouldn't be that different in the ideal comparison, sorry for your loss.

 

Hi Criosphinx. That's my point exactly! I would love to create a brand new account on my phone but my email is already linked to 's gamer tag. Is it possible to link my existing email to new account and forget about this account completely? Someone
told me I need to change my email and this is one thing I am not willing to do as need my email address to stay the same

After reading your posts, I believe the following article will help you with your issue (and no console is required to make this change). To get started, please follow the link below and follow the instructions:

Change the Microsoft account that's associated with your Xbox Live gamertag

Using these instructions, you will be able to create a new Microsoft account in order to move the
mlody runo gamertag to the new address, which will allow you to create a new gamertag using your existing Microsoft account.

Then wouldn't it be better to a factory reset on your windows phone to sign in with a newly created email address? Back up your files before doing so and you should be fine.

Welcome to the Xbox Forums

You could create a new Microsoft Account and then factory re set your Windows Phone to allow you to sign into it using your new account. However, by doing this, you will have to update your other account and try forwarding your replies over to your new account.
You will also have to tell your contacts that you have changed your email address, and if you wanted to, and for what reason.

At the Original Poster- If you have a Windows Phone, then you will have access to the games App on your phone. This is where you will be able to pay games on Xbox Live, although it will be Games for Windows. You should be able to change your gamertag though
there, if you wanted to.

Alternatively, you can change your name on the Xbox.com website by going to this link here:
live.xbox.com/.../GamerProfile

In terms of you getting a free name change, that is very unlikely considering it does not violate the Xbox Live Code of Conduct, as previously stated above.
