Discus and support gamer tag change not allowed in XBoX on Consoles to solve the problem; tried to change my Gamertag to one I know is available, after speaking to online help they have confirmed this, however every time I try to it says it...     gamer tag change not allowed


    tried to change my Gamertag to one I know is available, after speaking to online help they have confirmed this, however every time I try to it says it is " Tag is taken. please try another" even though it's confirmed to be available and no matter the combination
    I try with it.

    It comes down to the word "Telnok" a word I made up as far as I'm aware, and no matter what tag I go for it will not allow me to have it.

    I have changed my tag beforehand with zero issues until I try with that word and I don't understand why. Online support recommend I post here for here for help.

    Help with changing gamer tag

    i want to change my gt to TidalSnow but someone else has already got it and I don't want to replace one of the letters with numbers so if someone could suggest how I change it up a bit to use it that'd be great.

    I've tried it with a space between as Tidal Snow but someone's got that too.

    the free gamer tag change was only allowed when your gamer tag change was forced. People abused this by reporting gamer tags that people wanted to change so once a force change was made they then changed it again to what they wanted for free. Because
    of that abuse of the system all game tag changes now cost even if a force change has happened.

    Gamer tags don't reset. Please Note that Microsoft only allows you to change your gamer tag only once for free. if you want to change your Gamertag it's going to cost $10. gamer

    And you are wrong with the quote that only a certain type of gamer tags are allowed to be changed free. Go to your xbox profile page and try to edit your gamer tag. You will see a prompt that says you are allowed to change it free only once. There is absolutely
    no other criteria specified there. For as long as I haven't made any change to what was given to me, I still qualify for a free change.

    I had my gamer tag running for 2 years and it hasnt been changed until today. i find this unfair as it never warned me and feel i should be allowed a gamer tag reset

    Today I lost my love of Microsoft

    Last time my Son changed his gamer tag it allowed him the first change for free. That was about 3 years ago now so maybe they have stopped that now. If you have never changed it before it might be worth asking the question about 1st change of gamer tag
    for free.
