    Hi Microsoft,

    My gamer tag had changed when I downloaded my account to my sister's xbox and found out it had changed to something else. At first I assumed it was due to

    an account mix up on her xbox or due to downloading it while using her account. I contacted the support team and they were helpful and informed me that my gamer

    tag was inappropriate and a new name had been generated. Unfortunately I thought names were only inappropriate if they were in the dictionary and I assumed that

    names would be filtered before you could use them so I thought nothing of it. I've used that name for almost a year and I use the same name for my steam account

    for I think 4 years now. Support linked me to this forum to see if I could change my gamertag to something cooler without the fee, if that's possible please?

    Says i have to pay to change my gamer tag, never changed it before???

    The free name change was only available for those who were given an auto-generated tag. It doesn't look like your tag fits as one of those automatically generated gamertags.

    The option was only there because those user did not get a chance to choose their own gamertag right at the beginning.

    Renaming Automatically generated accounts??

    If the Xbox created a random gamertag for you, you can change it once for free for the first 30 days you have the gamertag. After that you would have to pay to change the name.

    You can view your forced name change on enforcement.xbox.com and file a case review from there if eligible. Otherwise if you wish to change your GT you will need to pay the fee.

    The enforcement team does not use the forums.

    Normally this happens when someone does not like your gamertag or is offended by it and then they report it. Then Xbox will change it
