    Firstly, I would recommend checking if your Microsoft account is up-to-date and that you have the latest version of Windows installed on your PC. You can do this by going to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update.



    If your Windows is up-to-date, please try the following steps:



    1. Press the Windows key + R on your keyboard to open the Run dialog box.

    2. Type "services.msc" and press Enter.

    3. Scroll down to find the "Gaming Services" service.

    4. Right-click on "Gaming Services" and select "Properties".

    5. In the "General" tab, make sure that the "Startup type" is set to "Automatic".

    6. Click on the "Log On" tab and select "Local System account".

    7. Click "Apply" and then "OK".

    8. Restart your PC and try accessing Game Pass again.



    If the issue persists, please try resetting the Gaming Services app by following these steps:



    1. Press the Windows key + I on your keyboard to open the Settings app.

    2. Click on "Apps".

    3. Scroll down to find "Gaming Services" and click on it.

    Activate free month of Game Pass for PC on Child Account

    None of these suggestions solve the problem.

    The account has never had a GamePass for PC subscription.

    The account is part of a family group because it is a child account.

    We are trying to use the GamePass for PC offer that is on the top banner of the Xbox app on my child's PC. We click the link, enter our billing information and get the error message: "You don't have permission to do this. An adult in your family needs to turn on recurring billing for you." We follow the instructions to "turn on recurring billing" but those instructions require an active subscription. The subscription can't be activated without recurring billing. Recurring billing requires an active subscription. It is a endless loop of frustration.

    If activating a free trial of GamePass for PC is not an option on a child account, please stop advertising for it on child accounts. Or fix the bug in the system that created this loop so that you can give the next generation of GamePass subscribers a sneak peek at this platform.
