Gamepass and Game Data

I currently am paying for gamepass and i was considering buying a few games, but I had a few questions first. If I unsubscribe from gamepass, but join again in the future, does my game data save over or is everything wiped clean and I have to start over?
My last question is if I purchase the game through gamepass for the discount, does my game data once again carry over, or do I have to start over? I did not buy sea of thieves, but I am playing it in gamepass and I am very far in, so I am worried I will somehow
lose my data by completely buying it or by resubscribing later on. Thank you for any help on my questions.

You'll be happy to learn that all your game save data is retained regardless of how you play the game. You can own it outright, borrow the disc from a friend, play the game at a friend's house, or get it through Game Pass. Your game save is connected to
your Microsoft account and is stored in the cloud. So rest assured, you won't lose your progress.

Delete the game data off your Xbox first. Then install the game using the disc that will solve the gamepass issue.

Gamepass Ultime will work on all Xbox. Even if the games do change you will not lose any saved data unless you delete it yourself.

Since you have gamepass and if the games are still on gamepass just go download them again.

That's exactly what I want to do.

I can't download them, though, because I installed my old hard drive in a new computer. The app keeps telling me I can't install the games on the old drive, because data from another device is still installed, but I also can't uninstall the old data.
