Game wont install and keeps stopping

Thank you for the reply but unfortunately this did not resolve the issue. Windows, Xbox app and gaming service are all up to date. I did try reinstalling the service from step 6 but it did not work.

Before installing any games into your Xbox app, let us first ensure that your PC and apps are up to date to keep up with the game's latest update. So far, from the details you provided, you can try the following steps and let us know the result. You can just skip those you have done already.

Troubleshooting for Xbox app game installation issues

1. Restart device -
   
   • This will clear your computer’s memory/RAM.
     
2. Keep your Windows updated -
   
   • Install PC updates including Optional Update. Guide - Update Windows
     
     • Settings > Update & Security (Windows 10) or Windows Update (Windows 11) > Check for updates > download updates and install > restart device and wait for the update to be done.
       
   • If you have issues with update, please check the troubleshooting steps available here - Troubleshoot problems updating Windows.
     
3. Update Xbox app and Gaming Services from Microsoft Store
   
   • Launch Microsoft Store app on Windows by searching it on Windows search bar.
     
   • Select Library > Updates & downloads > check if an update is available for the Xbox app or Gaming Services app.
     
   • If an update is available, select Update.
     
4. Make sure you are signed in to Microsoft Store and Xbox app with the same credentials.
   
5. (EA App) Close both Xbox app and EA app and relaunch the Xbox app.
   
6. Uninstalling and reinstalling Gaming Services.
   
   • Right-click the Start button and select Windows PowerShell (Admin).
     
   • Type this command one at a time, press enter and wait:
     get-appxpackage Microsoft.GamingServices | remove-AppxPackage -allusers
     start ms-windows-store://pdp/?productid=9MWPM2CQNLHN
     
   • Install the app on that page and select Yes when you receive the User Account Control (UAC) prompt.
     
   • Restart your device and try to install the game again

I was able to successfully start the down load for Minecraft for Windows via the Xbox app as well MC launcher from the Microsoft store so this problem may be inherent to Halo Wars 2.

I am not a part of Xbox or PC insider.

Yes I did purchase the game. I purchased it through the MC store if memory serves. When I originally purchased the game I was able to install and play it, however, I recently attempted to play it and it would CTD upon opening so I uninstalled and attempted to reinstall.

To answer your question, there is a chance that this is specific issue and a chance that there are third party software that is hindering the game to launch/download. In isolating the issue, we cannot just rule out the decision when we cannot install another game on Xbox app for test. If you have already tried our suggestions, we may as well provide you with another set of troubleshooting. Before you proceed, if you have skip at least one step on our 1-6 troubleshooting, please go back and start to follow them.

If you have antivirus, antimalware, VPN, firewall, proxy and PC Optimizer installed in your PC, and disabling it will still produce same issue then please create new local Windows user. Please check this article: Create a local user or administrator account in Windows - Microsoft Support. We look forward for your update after this.

However, if you do not have any antimalware, VPN, firewall, proxy and PC Optimizer installed in your PC, please continue the troubleshooting by performing these two steps:



Run system scans

Run a full system scan. This will check and restore corrupted system files.



In Windows search bar, search for Command Prompt and Run as Administrator.

Copy the command below one line at a time and paste it on Command Prompt:

DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth

DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth

DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

SFC /scannow

Perform Cleanboot - This will start Windows with a minimal set of drivers or Microsoft related system and startup programs running on the background. That way you will be able to test the game or apps for any interference that could have cause the crash or the game/app issue.

1. Sign into your PC as administrator.
   
2. On Windows search bar search for: msconfig
   
3. Select System Configuration from the search results.
   
4. On the Services tab of the System Configuration dialog box, click or tick the box for Hide all Microsoft services
   
5. Then click Disable All.
   
6. On Startup tab of the System Configuration dialog box, select Open Task Manager.
   
7. On Startup tab in Task Manager, for each startup item, select one item at a time and then click Disable.
   
8. Close Task Manager.
   
9. On Startup tab of the System Configuration dialog box, tap OK and then restart the computer.
   
10. Launch Deep Rock Galactic and check if issue persist.
