    Game volume used to be temporarily lower whilst party talked


    Been playing xbox recently with friends and I've noticed that the game chat is no longer momentarily muted/quietened whilst someone in your party talks.

    Is this a new feature or is there somewhere to turn this back on?

    Makes it quite hard to hear friends as you need game loud but it doesn't mute when someone talks like it used to, end up with huge noise in my ear and unable to hear what friends say.

    May be wrong but thought whenever someone spoke the game would be quieter and when talking stopped it would returned to normal levels.

    Also you may have accidentally lowered to volume for party chat without even realizing it by pressing the game volume multiple times or with a single long press

    That's normal behavior of the volume. Because if you are in a party and unplug your mic it usually switches to Kinect to be used for chatting and so it lowers the game volume (not the overall volume!) to better get your voice and better understanding of
    the chat.

    This can be avoided if you choose not to use Kinect für chat in the Kinect settings.

    I agree, I dislike this feature myself. It's just as bad as the volume issues with the headset adapters.

    Can't adjust chat mixer enough to make chat volume superior

    Lowering the audio level of individual games has made the game quieter while not affecting the volume of party chat, so that did it.
