Game volume -90% after battery change

For the past week or 2 I have been having a problem where my game volume is reduced by about 90% however the chat volume stays the same. I have noticed this to happen when I change my batteries mostly. To fix this I
have to restart the console and then its fine again. Adjusting the volume or mixer, turning off the controller or plugging it in, removing the headset and replugging doesn't fix it. I've been using these rapthor batteries for months with no issues. 1 is always
in the cradle which is wired to my xbox with a USB c connection. I've always put 1 in and took the other out every few days.

Hello, when changing a battery of controllers, it is advisable to turn off the controller advent this change and unplug the helmet from on the controller when it is turned on. Did you take these precautions when you change your battery?

I have tried turning off the controller, removing the cover, switching the battery, replacing the cover and turning controller on again. After I did it like that and the issue still occurred I came here hoping for a solution.

You can change the volume of headset/headphone input on the quick settings on the Xbox.

A quick make shift idea is to simply turn your headset 90° do that the band is at the back of your head instead of on top.

It sounds to me like you mistreated your batteries & cables - and are now, after the fact, annoyed at them having only a 90 day warranty - which is pretty standard.

I think I'm getting closer to the source. It happened again when I tried connecting the controller after opening a game. Then, after closing some apps (I have an AutoScript to control media stuff, like System Volume and an app to warn me when the controller's
battery is flat), i noticed that Steam was trying to take the controller over. Maybe that's the cause for the reboot? (Also, pressing the Xbox button to turn it off was triggering the Volume without said apps open. Weird)
