Game update problem

Having only purchased xbox one a week ago, we are still getting used to the system but we are having problems getting a couple of games to open. We have 2 games which appear to install but get stuck in the update process. They have been left for hours
to complete updates but never complete. Destiny is the first game - support for error codes wasp & turtle that have come up suggest uninstalling & reinstalling which we have done with no success. Titanfall is the other game for which installation worked
but update does not seem to complete. Both games are on disc. We have tried uninstalling, restarting the xbox and installing off line before getting on line to commence the updates. We have 2 other games installed & updated without issue when we initially
set up the xbox. Can anyone help?

Problem update games

 

Just a problem with the update. Are the games disc version of digital versions?

 

Okay. With this, you will need to clear the persistent storage

Settings--->Disc and Blue Ray ----> Persistent storage, and clear it 3 times

Then you are going to want to disconnect from you network

Settings---->Network---->Disconnect from wireless

Then uninstall the game

My games and apps----Highlight the game, press menu button, manage game content, uninstall all.

Then perform a hard reset on the console

Turn off console, unplug all the cords connected to the console, hold down the power button or 30 seconds, plug everything in, turn on console

Then reinstall the game, which you will just take the game disc out, and then plug it back in.

 

Then after it has installed, reconnect to the network, and install the update.

Ok, we did what you suggested. The install went well but the updating did not. It alternated between updating (no percentage would come up), queued and installation stopped. We would then restart the update process (this happened 5 times). At one stage
a message appeared - connection fault - to say our internet was running too slow. We did as it asked and disconnected & reconnected the internet, started the update process again where it went straight up to 83% but it never went any further for the next hour
and no other messages came up. Our internet is allegedly a 'fast' ADSL2+.

 

Would you please do a network and multiplayer network test and post the results or errors you get? It may indeed be a network issue.

Do you have the possibility to use a wired connection to try if this works better for you?

 

The network test was good. The multiplayer network test came back with " your download speed is too slow" at 30 Kbps it may be affecting network quality.

 

So this is clearly a connection problem then. How are you connected to your router? If connected wireless how is your signal strength and the paket loss? Any chance to test this wired?

 

Does sound like the game installation has been going to slow and possibly cause a problem. Do as BobMcFly247 says, and try a direct connection with a cord.

 

We have a wireless connection. We tried it wired but it still didn't work. We looked at the connection statistics on the xbox in settings and it said:

Download speed - .01 Mbps

Upload speed - .23 Mbps

Packet loss - 0 percent

MTO - 1480

Latency 247 ms

Do you have any other suggestions?

 

Signal strength is also full.

 

What's the statistics when connected wired?

And how are the download speeds if you perform a speedtest on your PC?

Upload speed - .21

Packet loss - 1 percent

MTO - 1480

Latency - 222 ms
