game uk buisness practices

starting this thread to make microsoft aware of game pressure selling ps4 over xbox one to customers i have personally witnessed a man go into game and ask for a xbox one only to have game staff try to change his mind and to buy a ps4 touting it as the supperior
system untill the man gave up and said he will buy one else where my friend who already owns a xbox one enquired about a ps4 only to b told he was making the right choice not getting a xbox one untill my friend told him he has one already and this has happened
to other friends of mine in game when thy have gone there to get a xbox one only for staff to try to change there mind to sway them to the ps4 take note microsoft has anyone else noticed this kind of thing and this is not one game store but various ones from
other areas it seems to me game has a agenda

Yeh the idea is where the line of bad buisness practices comes in at which point consumers feel alienated.

If MS wanted they could sell you the console with no connectors at all and sell the power supply and the TV connectors separate, and not even throw in a controller. That would make them money, but there's a reason its not done.

Yeal they offered it to me then a system error accured during process and wouldnt give to me so ive removed my credit card and turned off auto renewal if i dont get free month they dont get anymore money and I will just go back to my PS3 system and play
xbox was a gift and thought id try it out so far if this is how they do buisness im not impressed very poor buisness practices chrating people and stealing from them LOL

They probably get a larger commission selling ps4 consoles.

 

This one time a few years ago. I was walking by McDonalds only to be chased down my the employees. They took me hostage and force fed me 7 times a day. All the meals were super sized. Extra cheese, extra sauces, boiling hot coffee with no warning on
the cup it was hot(yes, I'm a moron and never knew coffee was hot.), all kinds of desserts and diet coke(Gotta watch the calories with my drink at least.) Then the GameStop behind them forced me to play the Playstation brand non stop. They didn't let me
lay nintendo or xbox. They didn't let me go until I weighed 639 pounds. People that say those lawsuits were unjustified have NO IDEA what I have been through.

 

Are you going to use any punctuation, any at all? Run-on sentences are difficult to read.

What it sound like to me is the practices of the people who happen to work in the particular store that you have been in, and not the "business practices" of Game UK as an entire company.

Game's business practices are to sell gaming product. If the product moves off their shelves into the customer's hands, it makes no difference to them what brand it is. They have made their profit from it, which is the only
thing they're after. It would be counterproductive for them to have any brand loyalty.

 

there pushing the ps4 now so when all the promised games get delayed again they have already sold them and wont get stuck with them.

 

Are Game staff not right to recommend PS4 over XBOne ? after all it is more powerful. Not only that but maybe they don't want the stress of XBOne returns ? or they chose to stock more PS4's then XBOne's ?

Remember MS are being very coy about actual XBOne sales, it can't be easy for Game managers deciding how much XBOne stock to order when there's very little sales figures for the One.

By hiding sales figures and just talking shipment figures MS are doing themselves no favours what so ever.

PS4 is the 2end biggest selling console now of all time.

 

Or just tell your fiend to make up their own mind and decide for themselves. And not to let a sales person talk them into buying something.

And slating a particular company in an on-line forum is not a particularly good idea!

 

It's alarming how little the people at Game know about games.

They're like kids on the internet.

When it comes to the best exclusives and the most Next Gen games there's only ONE.

 

@ you can't say that about a manager though, you do know a couple of years ago Game almost went bankrupt ? a lot of shops was shut down all over the uk. They was lucky to survive i could mention a few HMV being another that went into receivership.

Tesco's managers was recently relieved of their jobs due to loss profits. I think if A brand sells more then the manager will order A brand stock then stock B.

And it just not the uk the PS4 has sold better in it's also the USA too.

@ Paraffin no one slated anyone but the PS4 has sold more fact! and by the end of the day it's about sales. Game will want a good Christmas and a healthy turn over as jan feb will be bleak.

@ Azrael maybe that's down to the wages they pay their staff ? i don't know.

I did hear once a convo by the staff at Granger Games saying they not been paid for weeks they was working very late hours to cover the busy Christmas period.

I think it's very easy to pick fault with a retailer without considering wages, electricity cost, ordering cost, sales. Next gen games prices are hardly cheap at the moment expect £65 rrp for the next COD.

 

Sounds like that store has overbought PS 4's and is struggling to shift them and is now having to pile on the pressure to try and sell all those unwanted Playstation 4's.

 

@ Azrael I don't know what's happening at Game don't work there just pop in from time to time. But the cost of the majority of games now are quite expensive. Seems next gen going to cost you 15 pounds more.

That will play it's part regarding sales on both machines. New games are just way too expensive on next gen at current moment. If it carry's on like this people may hold out longer and wait and see what happens with the Steam Boxes.

 

Everything is more expensive at GAME.

You do get some good deals every now and then but they rely on Moms and Dads coming in to buy stuff for their kids at those prices rather than someone who knows you can get the same game for £15.00 + cheaper online or even at the supermarket.
