    Game streaming on my new Xbox One S is pixellated


    My XBOX ONE (non S) was silky smooth for Game Streaming, but my One S has severe pixellation / artifact issues.

    I have 19.21.7006.00000 Xbox App on Win 10, and the latest Software on the One S.

    I'm hardwired into the same Gigabit switch as the One S with my laptop, with GigE connections all round, and i've tried rebooting all parts of the network.

    Streaming to PC: Xbox Download Queue performance drops to almost 0

    I noticed today that my Xbox One can't download a game at normal network speeds when I'm streaming to my PC.

    I tried to start downloading the new Halo 5 update while streaming from my PC. After 30 minutes, my download was still at 1%. At this point I accidentally uninstalled Halo 5, so now I'm reinstalling it. I started the install from the Xbox, not streaming this
    time.

    Once the new install started, I brought up my router bandwidth monitor and saw that I was downloading at around 30Mb/s. I watched the bandwidth as I started to stream to my computer and the Xbox traffic bottomed out. I only see 2Mb/s while streaming if I'm
    lucky. Immediately after stopping my stream, the download starts going at 30Mb/s.

    This has happened to me before, but I didn't make the connection between the slow download speeds and my streaming of the Xbox to my PC.

    My Xbox One is on a wired connection. My router is a brand new Asus RT-AC87R with the most up to date firmware(3.0.0.4.378_5134).

    Netflix streaming quality terrible - ways to optimize?

    The Xbox Netflix app has always had somewhat dodgy quality for me, but after being sent a new modem/router from my ISP the quality has gone downhill far enough to be near-unwatchable. Blocky pixellated picture, tons of compression artifacts, etc.

    My connection speed is somewhere around 60Mbps down, and other devices are streaming HD video no problem - this is an Xbox connection issue, and I'm guessing due to the default factory settings from my new router.

    Are there either router and/or Xbox network settings that will optimize the connection? I'm not savvy enough to tinker on my own, but given some instruction I've no problem adjusting the router firmware or Xbox panel.

    Games that aren't series s/x enhanced look bad

    I'm not saying it has to be enhanced I'm just saying if I had a base Xbox one and was playing soul calibur 6 it would look better than it does on my series s it's pixelated and has jaggies everywhere.

    It looks like a Xbox 360 game on my series s. That's a problem

    When you say "pixelated" how pixelated are we talking? I mean the One S is quite a slow machine these days, the One X is much much more powerful and it will be able to run the games at a higher resolution.

    All I can guess is that my tv is stretching the picture because it is 4k but then wouldn't everyone be having this same issue. If anyone could help that would be great. Oh and I have tried numerous settings on the tv and xbox that I have seen on

    The TV isn't stretching the image, the console is. The One S runs in 4K, but this only applies to video's. Both streaming services and 4K blu-ray discs will run in 4K and will look great on this TV. However, games on the One S only run at 1080P internally.
    They are then 'Scaled' by the Xbox One S to fill the screen.

    One of the big issues with the One S (and the original Xbox One) is that many of its games don't even run at 1080P and actually run at a lower resolution which is again scaled but this time in software. COD Modern Warfare uses a dynamic scaler which is quite
    aggressive, especially so on the Xbox One S. Dynamic scaling means that the internal resolution of the game will change depending on what's going on on screen. It helps with performance, but the caveat is that it can make the on screen image look rather soft
    and pixelated.

    You could try your TVs own scaling technology by changing the console resolution to 1080P, but I don't expect it to be much different. Modern displays - both TVs and monitors - have a set number of pixels and cannot change for a different incoming signal
    easily. They must use scaling techniques to make an image with a non-native resolution fit the screen. When an image is scaled, there is no longer one-to-one pixel mapping and the image is less clear.

    21:9 3440x1440 is less pixels than 16:9 3840 x 2160 which is "supported" by Xbox One S.

    I stream alot with my XBox One S or XBox One X

    I will be trying the direct router connection soon.

    Right now my XBox One S and XBox360 Its on a old 8 port swtich.

    I have a old Ethernet Cable Cat5e on them.

    I found out that the new switch has special low lantacy or QoS option for gamers. Netgear has a gamer 5port and a big 8port swtich but it over $200, too much.

    I plan to order a faster Ethernet cable Cat8 Gold Shielded and add it directly to the router to see if it works better. My XBox One S need a 50ft Ethernet Cable which is to high for me budget. My XBox One X eat up my budget, now it's looking at my TV kinda
    funny.

    Its best to use a XBox One X to stream believe me you will notice the sharpness in games and stream quality.
