Game sharing issue

I recently started game sharing with one of my family members and everything was going well until we tried to play Destiny together. Whenever I try to play Destiny, I get a message that says: "Sorry, we can't launch this game right now. It might be in use
on another Xbox." Keep in mind that this only happens when we both try to play the same game. If anybody has a solution for this, it would be greatly appreciated. (Sorry if this was posted in the wrong section)

First you dont have to read me the "riot act" as I said I KNOW its against policy hence while I brought it up. I will post it again what I already said the first post "Microsoft has a policy for people not to share their passwords/email for security."

I have been an ambassador myself.

Second that page you brought up is about setting up your home xbox which has always been a sharing feature of the Xbox one. My wife has always signed into my console to test if she likes a game before she buys it on her own console.

What it sounds like to me is the OP is talking about two separate consoles. Hence the "violation" I already mentioned.

Game sharing issue.

You don't have to share your account information in order to share games. Any console you have set as your Home console can share the games on your account.

Hi,

if you're game sharing from different consoles, and you're both trying to play the same game you will get this error. only one at a time can play the game that someone else owns. you and your family member will need to own the game(buy it) aswell to play
together at the same time.

We can both play GTA at the same time and there is no problem at all. (He doesn't own GTA) This only seems to be happening with Destiny.

Is there a difference in who owns each of these games?

For the purposes of this example, you're Profile A and your brother/family member is Profile B. Console A is the console that Profile A primarily plays on; Console B belongs to Profile B.

So does Profile A own GTA (which is the one that works) and Profile B owns Destiny? (Or maybe the other way around?)

For two users in the same household sharing games, Profile A would need to make Console B his Home Xbox and Profile B would need to make Console A his Home Xbox. My suspicion is that different profiles own the different games and only one of you (whoever
owns GTA) made the other console their Home Xbox, hence the error.

If this is the case, the owner of Destiny needs to make the other console their Home Xbox and then this should work.

Let us know if my guess as to the situation is wrong though, and we can work from there to rectify this.

I own both GTA and Destiny, he doesn't own them. He already set his Xbox as my home Xbox as well.

Okay, and you're always the one getting the error? What if you launch the game first and the other person afterwards?

You can only access games he actually purchases on his account. You can't access games he's sharing from other people.

As far as I know doing a full factory reset (so without keeping games and apps installed) will also remove any home Xbox associations, like mentioned on this link:

Reset and remove everything. This option resets the console to

factory settings. All user data, including accounts, saved games,

settings, home Xbox associations, and all games and apps will be

deleted. You should use this option when selling or gifting the console

to someone else. You should only use this option as a last resort in

some troubleshooting cases.

Side note to prevent any miscommunication: Keep in mind that sharing account credentials and Transferring licenses to your console from an account that you didn’t create is a violation of the Code of Conduct like mentioned here: https://enforcement.xbox.com/en-us/home/staysafe#topic6

Sharing account credentials isn't required to set up or use the Home console feature. You also can't transfer licenses on the Xbox One.

if that was the case it would say I reached the maximum amount of gameshares per year I just reset them so I know it's not the problem

I'm sorry to see any issues with Home console! Seeing this, I checked with the team that looks into these issues since we had a known issue with this last week. It appears that the console you're attempting to make your Home console has hit the limit of
users able to set the console as their Home. You will need to have a few accounts remove that console as their Home so that you can set it.

If you continue to have issues after doing that, please let me know! We'll be able to dig into it further from there.

I didn't realize there was a limit to the amount of Home console designations on a specific console. How many accounts can set the same Xbox console as Home? 100?

You can change which console is your home Xbox up to three times during a one-year period. This period works on a rolling
basis, starting the moment you change your home Xbox for the first time. For example, if you make your console your home Xbox for the first time on January 1st, and then change it two more times, on February 1st and March 1st, you will not be able to change
it again until January 1st of the following year. The next time you'll be able to change it after that will be on the following February 1st, and then again on March 1st. Please make a note of the dates when you change your console to your home Xbox so that
you'll know when you can change its designation again.

When you change home consoles, all device licenses for digital content will move to your new home Xbox. These device
licenses will no longer be available on your old "home" Xbox.
