game share on xbox app for Windows not working for specific content

Hi all,

My younger brother and I use the same PC to game. I bought the Destiny 2 The Witch Queen DLC and through signing myself in on his Microsoft Store app, we were able to essentially "game share" the DLC on both our accounts. We play Destiny 2 on the Xbox app for Windows and we were both able to play the DLC up until my younger brother just couldn't access the content from The Witch Queen DLC anymore, and was being prompted to purchase the DLC. On his Xbox app on the PC, it says that the DLC is "Ready to use in game, no download needed" but when we go in game, it does not say that he owns the DLC and he can't access any missions. Everything on my account is fine and I can play the DLC content normally. Anyone have any tips?

Hey there! Is his Xbox app still signed in to your account, or did he re-log into his own account after you installed it?

As a reminder, game sharing is intended to be a way to let your friends borrow games while you're not playing them, and generally this should only provide access to the base game. Where DLC is involved, the account is checked for the entitlement, and if it's not there, it will not allow the use of that additional content.

Of course, if you play on your account on his device, you should be able to use the DLC without any issue. Once you're no longer playing and he logs back into his account, he will retain access to the base game, but will not be able to play the DLC as it is not credited to his account.

You should be able to see shared content with the Xbox Companion App (game bar does not allows this), make sure your app is updated and if that doesnt work try reseting the app.

Windows key > Search: Xbox console companion > right clic> app settings> reset.
