The way the family sharing works is the profiles that are on the "Home" Xbox are able to access all of the features and games available that the primary account purchases without the primary account being logged in. The Primary account can then Log
into a different Xbox and still have the same features and access to the Games.

The Secondary accounts are not allowed to access the live features or digital games when they are not on the home Xbox, Unless the Primary is logged in with them to the same one.

Because of this limitation you are only able to share between two Xbox ones at a time.

Let him log in on the same account. He won’t have access to the titles that is game sharing with his fathers account unless you buy them.

The best practice is for each person to have their own Microsoft account. You can make the kids a child account and can monitor their activity and put on restrictions with parental controls.

With 3 consoles it gets complicated on how family share works. You will have 1 home console that can have all accounts work on it without the main account being logged in. On the other consoles you can access the games and features of live, but they other
accounts won't be able to unless you are logged in as well.

Since you can't be logged into more than 1 console at a time, it's not possible for all 3 consoles to be using the shared live features at the same time.

The issues began before I cancelled the subscriptions.

My son's still can't play shared games unless my profile is logged in

But if I'm logged in to one xbox, then it logs me out of the other xbox.

So both son's can't play at the same time, why can't they play these games from their profiles?

Sorry but Home Console account sharing can only be done on one console and your account can only be logged into one console at a time. It won't be possible to share your account with your brother unless you log in to his console with your account.
