    game-related problem or faulty hardware?

When I play certain games, I noticed black horizontal lines in some games. With dying light 2, I noticed 3 horizontal lines on the screen, and with plague tale innocence I noticed faint horizontal lines during movement. I also noticed that whenever I stay idle on the Xbox menu during games that don't lock on 60fps, the screen starts to flicker hard (brightness goes crazy). I am not sure what going on. My Xbox may be faulty? Or all those lines are a game-related problem and the flicker is just my monitor? I tried a different HDMI cable but with no luck.

    Faulty Hardware

Hello, Z0mb1e. I'm Arturo, and I'll be glad to provide assistance with your inquiry.

I'm sorry to hear that your Xbox Series X is not working as expected.

Not only that, but I'm afraid to say that as your console is out of warranty, you need to request an out-of-warranty repair.

Depending on where you live, the price may be different, but I will leave the prices for the US market:

    Xbox Series S 199.00
    Xbox Series X 299.00

You can check the price chart for the US and more countries here:

    https://support.xbox.com/help/hardware-network/warranty-service/getting-your-product-serviced

However, before sending your console for repair, I would like to suggest performing an offline update. Just in case you didn't try that option.
This potential fix requires a USB drive and a PC to transfer the files to it:

    https://support.xbox.com/help/hardware-network/console/offline-system-update

Furthermore, please refrain from sharing personal information, including email addresses, serial numbers, etc.
As community users, we are not able to enter or check your account information, and everything we comment can be seen by anyone on the internet.

I know this is not the kind of answer you were expecting, but I hope it helps in some way.

    Kind regards,

    Arturo.

    Cannot connect, hardware related problem?

We tried, but they didn't believe it was a hardware problem and gave us a number of the dutch helpdesk.

They weren't very helpful, since I had to explain them like 10 times that I was sure it didn't have anything to do with the internet connection.

Maybe I will try to install the update again from usb drive...

    Cannot connect, hardware related problem?

    Hey taidara

    Thanks for the fast reply.

I have already tried it multiple times, but unfortunately without any luck.

The Xbox wasn't able to connect to the network at my home either.

I think I have deleted everything I could over the past few days. :)

    Cannot connect, hardware related problem?

Try role back the update to the previous one and try update using a USB flash drive. To do so:

Turn off your console. Press and hold the sync button (the small button you use to connect new wireless controllers) and turn your console on. Hold the sync button until the console starts up completely.

Now delete incomplete update files. Go to System Settings and choose Storage.

On your controller, press the following button sequence:

    Press the left bumper.

    Press the right bumper.

    Press the X button.

    Press the left bumper.

    Press the right bumper.

    Press the X button.

Download the system update to your PC from
    this link

Double click the compressed file and insert your USB stick (make sure the stick is FAT formatted). Then drag and drop the "$Systemupdate" folder on the USB stick.

Now try and update with the USB stick plugged in.

Post back and let us know how it goes.
