game refusing to run without gamepass

Ok a few months i got gamepass and downloaded ark survival evolved, my game pass ended last month and i removed it and then installed it from a disc and since then when i pop my disc in it keeps saying i need gamepass when i wiped the gamepass edition
and install the physical copy i have. Every other game i had copies of that i had for gamepass works just fine, I wanna know why this one game refuses to run off the disc without gamepass. Paid $40 for this game and a little peeved i can't play it. I have
done multiple uninstalls, resets, even a factory wipe and nothing. How do i get my game running again?

Thank you for posting here on the Xbox forums. We understand that you are unable to play the disc version of Ark without getting an error message stating that you need the Xbox Gamepass subscription. We recommend uninstalling the game and then re-installing
it while in offline mode.

Uninstall the game
Set the console to "Offline" in the Xbox settings > General > Network settings
Install the game via disc
Launch the game while still in offline mode
go back to online mode from the network settings

This should help the get rid of the console thinking you need gamepass to play Ark. Let us know the results!

I appreciate the effort but this isn’t the issue. As other games work without issue aoe4 for example and anything not running on gamepass.

Only gamepass ultimate works with steam deck

Unless you install Windows 10

Steam.os cannot install games because from gamepass games are windows based

Only cloud gaming is supported unless you install Windows 10

actually, the steam deck uses proton to run windows programs. you CAN install windows games on it without windows 10 and they run quite well. In fact, that's the selling point: many of the games that steamdeck runs are the windows versions. There are guides all over the internet for getting everything from EA play, to Gamepass, to GOG, etc running on the steamdeck to play the windows native games on the steamdeck.

It's not a known bug. I was able to run the Xbox One X version and the PC version without issues on the Gamepass.

Try doing a hard reset by holding the power button on the front of the console until it turns off then unplug it from the outlet for 30 sec then plug it back in and power back on. You could also try clearing local saved data.
