Game Recording

So, my xbox wont let me record anything. Usually people say hit the xbox button on your controller then X...

Well the 'Press X to record' option isnt there.

Ive done various things which wont fix it.

Problem of Game DVR (Recording)

When I start recording with Game DVR (Win + alt + R), it looks working (just 10 seconds). After 10 seconds, recording is stop, and nothing is saved in video folder.

If I finish recording in 10 seconds, nothing is saved, too.

So I can't recording with Game DVR. Can you guess something?

Thanks for all the help everyone. I'll get on to it. Just to let you know i'm the other side of the pond so these $ thingys means nothing to me but i think the £60 mark is about the equivalent i was expecting. Cheers guys and happy gaming.

 

Can you post a screenshot? You should have three options: Save Screenshot, Record That, and Game DVR. Is this a new issue, or have you not had the ability since install?

Troubleshooting

If you're still having trouble, try the following solutions.

Solution 1: Power cycle your console

Power cycling your console may clear up the issue. If it doesn't, try the next solution.

Solution 2: Make sure Game DVR is enabled

To make sure Game DVR is enabled on your Xbox One console:

1. Press the Xbox button
   to open the guide.
2. Select Settings.
3. Select All Settings.
4. Go to Preferences.
5. Under "Game DVR & streaming," make sure that Allow broadcasts and captures
   is checked.

Solution 3: Use both of the two previous solutions

The following procedure has also been known to resolve the issue:

1. Follow the steps in Solution 2, but UNCHECK Allow broadcasts and captures.
   
2. Follow the steps in Solution 1 to power cycle your console.
3. Follow the steps in Solution 2, and CHECK Allow broadcasts and captures.
   

Solution 4: Delete older clips

The issue may be related to a lack of space in your cloud storage. Try deleting some of your older clips to make space:

1. On the Home screen, select My games & apps.
2. Select Apps, and then Game DVR.
3. Select View all captures.
4. Select the first drop-down box, and then select On Xbox Live.
5. Select the clip you want to delete.
6. Select Delete, and then Yes to confirm.

Check to see if your Xbox is up to date. If this is a new install and everything above didn't help, you can do a factory reset, but you'll have to wait for all of the updates to download again.
